Double Diamond by Schrader 2022 Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon
$79.99 – $414.00Napa Valley California
Decanter Magazine 94 Rating
The 2022 Double Diamond Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon is crafted from the younger vines of the To Kalon vineyard, aged in 50% new oak and once-used Schrader barrels. This label focuses on blocks in the Mondavi To Kalon portion that don’t make the cut for the primary Schrader wines. Vineyard manager Blake Wood emphasizes identifying blocks within areas like the ‘P Neighborhood’ of the To Kalon site, divided into distinct parcels. The wine exhibits a bright and vibrant profile, leaning toward red-fruited characteristics with crunchy black cherry and ripe plum notes. Rich toffee and caramel spices add complexity, while firm, structured tannins support the full-bodied richness. It is a compelling and layered expression of Oakville.

Domaine du Château de Pierreclos 2022 1er Cru Au Vignerais Pouilly-Fuissé
$79.99 – $420.00Burgundy France
Decanter Magazine 93 Rating
An intense set of aromas explode from the glass, bold and bassy, full of pineapple, lemon zest, honey and honeysuckle, set within a backdrop of smoky, flinty intrigue. It’s ripe and opulent, with lots of flavour and lots of power, but it’s structurally very fine, with a long, buttery, silky finish. From one of the 22 vineyards promoted to premier cru in 2020.

Enjoyabilityfactor 96 Rating
Julien’s 2021 Classic unites Napa Valley’s diverse terroirs in a gracefully balanced composition. Complex aromas, dynamic textures and fresh energy deliver an elegant expression of the region and vintage. An inviting nose offers plum, espresso, and warm, woodsy notes of cedar and autumn leaves. Plush, sweet purple fruit and rich coffee aromas expand on the palate, supported by gentle minerality and notes of fresh thyme and garrigue. Spicy white-pepper tannins usher the wine into a mouthwatering finish of fresh red fruits, blackberry pastry, and allspice. R43-5 -

Fest and deeper, nutty, tobacco-like and woody-spicy, also slightly ethereal scent of very ripe black and a little red berries with paprika notes, black olives and dried Mediterranean herbs, a bit of tomato paste and pepper. Firmly structured, quite juicy fruit, with a presence of fine tannins and an invigorating bite, delicate nutty, chocolaty and tobacco-like wood notes, Mediterranean herbs and also rather dark, peppery-juniper ethereal spice, lasting on the palate, complex, good depth, still little developed, hinted salt in the background, a bit of coffee and dark chocolate, very good, firm, dense, juicy and spicy finish. Graphite and lead pencil is coming through, together with violets and blackberries. Some tar and asphalt, too. Full-bodied, yet creamy and crunchy, with agile liveliness that goes on for minutes. Fabulous length. Drinkable already but will age gracefully for decades. SP46-6 -
