Chateau de Beaucastel 2021 Chateauneuf du Pape
$99.99 – $510.00Southern Rhone Valley France
Decanter Magazine 96 Rating

A deep, quite herbal expression, with liquorice and crushed blueberries to the cassis fruit. Full-bodied, powerfully fruited, dense and deep. Really mouthcoating, intense fruit. The tannins are ripe, fine and plentiful, all saturated in blackberry juice on a long finish. Certainly, one of the more successful Châteauneufs this year. Will age well. A Mourvèdre-led expression of Beaucastel – it contains more than usual, at least 35% and probably more. Grenache and Cinsault fermented in cement, Syrah and Mourvèdre fermented in foudre SPBX-6

A Cellar Selection
From a pair of vineyards in the appellation, this wine is earthy in tobacco, sage and black currant. With admirable length and breadth, it features rich berry fruit adorned in a touch of molasses, dried herb and oak, deliciously built for the long haul. Enjoy best from 2029 to 2039.

FULLDRAW VINEYARD 2017 Grenache Syrah FD2
$49.99 – $504.00Paso Robles California
Wine Enthusiast 92 Rating
Extremely concentrated aromas of black cherry and blueberries baked in a caramel cake show on the rich nose of this blend of 60% Grenache and 40% Syrah. Lavish flavors explode on the sip, from roasted fig to vanilla and cardamom, with a tannic structure that starts to come through strongly on the finish.

The Cabernet Sauvignon is one of Eberle’s flagship wines. The Estate Cabernet is full-bodied with rich black cherry and bright cassis notes. It has firm tannins with lush acidity. Subtle hints of cocoa and Brûlée linger on the dry finish.

A polished and frankly toasty style, with a cocoa note draped over a core of plum sauce and steeped black cherry fruit flavors. Long and fine-grained through the finish, with a melted licorice element checking in along the way. For the fruit-loving crowd. Drink now through 2032.

Chateau d’Yquem 2010 Sauternes
$499.99Bordeaux France

Pale to medium lemon-gold colored, the 2010 d'Yquem is just now starting to strut its stuff with gregarious scents emerging of underripe mangos, fresh pineapples, poached pears and candied peel plus nuances of waxed lemons, fungi, musk perfume and wet clay. Wonderfully poised, the seductively intense fruit is offset by beautiful freshness, supporting layer upon layer of savory nut and baked-bread notions with the tantalizing exotic fruits coming through on the long, long finish. For number crunchers: 13.5% alcohol, 138 grams per liter residual sugar, and total acidity is 3.6 grams per liter H2SO4. Tempting to drink now, I’m sensing there are still a lot of latent nuances to be revealed here. So—to get that full Yquem experience—I’d give it another five years in bottle, at least, and drink it over the next 40+ years. SP60-4 -
Chateau Cos d’Estournel 2009 Saint-Estephe
$499.99Bordeaux France

One of the greatest young wines I have ever tasted, the monumental 2009 Cos d’Estournel has lived up to its pre-bottling potential. A remarkable effort from winemaking guru Jean-Guillaume Prats and owner Michel Reybier, this blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Merlot (33%) and a touch of Cabernet Franc (2%) was cropped at 33 hectoliters per hectare. It boasts an inky/black/purple color along with an extraordinary bouquet of white flowers interwoven with blackberry and blueberry liqueur, incense, charcoal and graphite. The wine hits the palate with extraordinary purity, balance and intensity as well as perfect equilibrium, and a seamless integration of tannin, acidity, wood and alcohol. An iconic wine as well as a remarkable achievement, it is the greatest Cos d’Estournel ever produced. It is approachable enough at present that one could appreciate it with several hours of decanting, but it will not hit its prime for a decade, and should age effortlessly for a half century. Dalla Valle 2013 Maya

The flagship wine, and one of the first in Napa Valley to emphasize the fabulous potential of Cabernet Franc in specific terroirs, is the 2013 Maya Proprietary Red Wine. This wine usually spends about 22 months in new oak and normally has anywhere from 45% to as much as 60% Cabernet Franc blended with the estate’s Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2013 could well be the finest they’ve made to date, and that includes a lot of profound wines. An incredibly complex nose of charcoal embers, blackberry and cassis, some blueberries as well as white flowers, and a touch of forest floor is followed by a full-bodied wine with sweet, well-integrated tannins, a multi-dimensional mouthfeel, and a finish that goes on for close to a minute. This is absolutely remarkable wine – powerful, dense, but at the sane time, precise and elegant. It’s hard to believe, but I think this wine can probably age and improve for 25-40 years. Don’t miss it if you have access to it. R23-1 SP23-1
