Ziata 2014 Green Valley Pinot Noir
$39.99Russian River Valley California
Wine Enthusiast 91 Rating
From a great site in this cool appellation, this wine shines with a powerful grip of ripe cherry and strawberry fruit and earthy undertones of dried herb and cardamom cola. Layered and dense, it has a seductively smooth texture and bite of minerality. R14-1 -

Always a good value, the 2018 Todos checks in as a kitchen sink blend of 45% Syrah, 21% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Petit Verdot, 9% Petite Sirah, and the rest Merlot and other miscellaneous varieties. Its inky, glass-staining purple color is followed by a beautiful bouquet of smoked black fruits, bouquet garni, peppered meat, and hints of crushed rock. It’s rich, medium to full-bodied, beautifully balanced, and just a gorgeous wine. SP27-10 -
Delas Freres 2013 St Joseph Cuvee Francois de Tournon
$39.99Northern Rhone Valley France

Similar to the Saint Epine release quality-wise, the 2013 St Joseph Cuvee Francois de Tournon offers more richness, breadth and layer compared to the tighter, more focused, granite-influenced Saint Epine. Plum, black raspberry, licorice, cracked pepper and graphite flows to a medium to full-bodied, concentrated, structured 2013 that needs 3-4 years of cellaring; it will have two decades of longevity. Coming mostly from vineyards around Tournon and Mauves, it spent 12 months in 30% new French oak. R22-2 -
Ciacci Piccolomini d’Aragona 2013 Brunello di Montalcino
$38.99Tuscany Italy
Wine Advocate 94 Rating
This wine initially comes off as more somber, brooding and dark in personality. The 2013 Brunello di Montalcino takes a few moments in the glass before its starts to relax and grow in volume and context. Before long, opulent tones of black fruit, spice and pipe tobacco. The wine is elegantly tempered and finessed on the close. BX-8 -
Brewer Clifton 2019 Pinot Noir
$36.99Santa Rita Hills California
Wine Enthusiast 94 Rating
For a slightly reduced price, this appellation blend allows fans of this brand to check into the magic that Greg Brewer is up to. The floral nose is redolent of violet and scarlet roses as well as pomegranate and red currant. The palate zings with acidity, presenting bright and fresh flavors of raspberry, citrus rind and herb. -
Matanzas Creek 2021 Merlot
$34.99Alexander Valley Sonoma County California
Wine Enthusiast 94 Rating
This wine has a deep, dark and tempting core of black fruits and oak spices that is surrounded by the velvety, welcoming texture expected from a Merlot. Blackberries, blueberries, toasted wood and cedar bring out complexity on the palate and linger on the finish. Best through 2030. R22-4 -
DeLille Cellars 2019 Chaleur Blanc
$34.99Columbia Valley Washington State
Jeb Dunnuck 94 Rating
One of the best Bordeaux Blanc blends coming out of Washington, the 2019 Chaleur Blanc checks in as 69% Sauvignon Blanc and 31% Semillon that was barrel fermented and aged in 60% new oak. Honeyed grapefruit, white flowers, sappy, green herbs, and a kiss of minerality all define the bouquet, and this beauty is medium-bodied, with a beautifully balanced, concentrated mouthfeel and a great finish. It ranks with the top examples of this cuvée I've tasted. R21-1 -
Domaine de La Charbonnière 2015 Vacqueyras Cuvée Spéciale
$34.99Southern Rhone Valley France
Jeb Dunnuck 93 Rating
The 2015 Vacqueyras Cuvée Spéciale is another blockbuster. Made from 100% Grenache that was 70% destemmed and aged in oak tanks, it offers terrific notes of kirsch, dried herbs, ground pepper and loads of loamy soil/sandy aromas and flavors. Medium to full-bodied, balanced and with beautiful tannin quality, drink it anytime over the coming decade. SP36-2 -
