The 2020 Château Mauvesin Barton brings more density and depth, yet it still has a more mid-weight, forward, pretty, and elegant style. A blend of 59% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc, it offers up lots of red and black fruits, some spicy, dried herbs, and violet nuances, soft tannins, and a clean, lengthy finish. This balanced, elegant Moulis will keep for 10-12 years or more.

The 2019 Meyney has a divine bouquet, so pure and winsome with floral red berry scents, beautifully integrated new oak and superb precision. It could have been blowsy, yet it retains superb balance and feels luxuriant and long on the finish. This is a stellar showing easily eclipsing its performances either in barrel or just after bottling.

Surpassing the 2019 and rivaling the 2016 as this estate’s finest vintage of the last few decades, the 2020 Montrose is a monument in the making. Wafting from the glass with aromas of violets, dark berries, licorice, loamy soil, black truffle and subtle spices, it’s full-bodied, deep and layered, with a seamless, elegantly muscular profile, terrific purity and energy, beautifully powdery tannins and a long, resonant finish. It checks in at 13.7% alcohol, the same as the superb 2009, but it is even deeper, more vibrant and more complex than the 2009.
