Faethm 2019 Fingers Crossed Bien Nacido Vineyard Syrah
$399.99Santa Maria Valley California
Jeb Dunnuck 97-100 Rating
The 2019 Syrah TBD is also magical stuff. Mostly destemmed (there are 25% stems) and aging in 70% new French oak (mostly from Bien Nacido), its deep purple color is followed by incredibly pure crème de cassis and blackberry fruits that give way to more peppery, meaty, spicy notes with time in the glass. Full-bodied, concentrated, yet also flawlessly balanced, it has plenty of tannins and a great finish. My instincts say 2-4 years of bottle age are going to beneficial, but this is brilliant. SP18-1 -
Faethm 2019 Grenache Fingers Crossed
$299.99California
Jeb Dunnuck 96-99 Rating
I was able to taste both the 2019 Grenache and Syrah from barrel, both showing beautifully. The 2019 Grenache TBD is slightly more fruit-forward with lots of red and blue fruits as well as sappy flower and violet notes. A finesse-driven Grenache that still brings serious richness and power, it's full-bodied and has silky tannins, terrific balance, and a sensational sense of freshness. R1-2 SP18-1 -
Faiveley 2020 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru
$249.99Burgundy France
Decanter Magazine 96 Rating
The wine has an inky dark color and pronounced aromas of blackberry, fig, smoke and spice. The texture is lush, yet there are firm tannins and the wine never seems overbearing or aggressive – everything is kept in elegant balance. Faiveley is the proprietor of three parcels that total 1.27ha in the Clos de Vougeot, including a portion in Grand Maupertuis and two parcels nearer the bottom. The fruit was picked very ripe (14.5%) and partially destemmed before fermentation, with a very careful extraction and ageing in cask (half new). SPBX-6 -
Faiveley 2020 Echézeaux En Orveaux Grand Cru
$249.99Burgundy France
Wine Spectator 95 Rating
Aromatic and loaded with exotic spices, showing sandalwood, incense, strawberry, cherry and anise aromas and flavors. Simultaneously dense and elegant, with fine harmony and a terrific finish. Just keeps building and building on the palate to the long, kaleidoscopic conclusion. Best from 2026 through 2043. 17 cases imported. SP1-4 -
Faiveley 2020 Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru
$249.99Burgundy France
TimAtkin.com 97 Rating
Exotic, dark and turbo-charged, this wine is wound up with sweet black plums and blackberries, anise and forest floor. It’s definitely a wine for those that like bolder, chunkier Pinots, whether you drink it soon or wait a few decades. Speaking of which, Jérôme feels strongly that it is best to wait ten years before trying this wine. For the less patient, I implore you to wait at least six or seven years! 2026-42. SP4-1 -
Famille Perrin 2019 Gigondas Clos des Tourelles
$54.99Veneto Italy
Jeb Dunnuck 97 Rating
All Grenache that was vinified in tank and brought up in tronconique wooded tank, the 2019 Gigondas Clos Des Tourelles is up there with the top vintages of this cuvée and is well worth seeking out. Roughly 60% destemmed, it has a core of black raspberry fruit as well as lots of ground pepper, spice, violets, and floral notes in its full-bodied, ultra-fine, pure, seamless style. It’s a heavenly Gigondas that will evolve for 15-20 years if stored correctly. R29-2 -
Far Mountain 2020 Fission Cabernet Sauvignon
$48.99Moon Mountain District Sonoma
Enjoyabilityfactor 94 Rating
The wine is dark, fresh and young. Enters with density and freshness together with a long mid palate. Earthy notes are present together with spices and dry herbs combined with the black fruit. Graphite gives way to bright, red fruit on a textural palate marked by mountain minerality. Balance and bright flavors, tannins are present yet in a subtle and soft way. Its defined structure along with fine-grained tannins that are present, yet soft, result in a complex finish that will allow the wine to age gracefully. -
Fattoria Le Pupille 2017 Saffredi Maremma Toscana
$119.99Tuscany Italy
Wine Advocate 97 Rating
Wow, there is a very impressive freshness here that defies the heat of this vintage. The 2017 Saffredi does not seem like a 2017 at all. Now celebrating its 30th birthday, Saffredi is 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 10% Petit Verdot. Thanks to the vineyard’s proximity to the sea, leaving leaves on the vines and the sharp diurnal shifts of the area, the fruit was able to ripen in a balanced manner despite the hot and dry summer. The team at Fattoria le Pupille knew they would have to be ready to harvest early and lose some their yields, and they did. In the end, production was down 25%, but the result is a fresh, thick and beautiful red made with ripe fruit and dark concentration. This is a great effort from Fattoria le Pupille. R45-3 -
Faust the Pact 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Coombsville
$99.99 – $570.00Napa Valley California
James Suckling 95 Rating
So strong but subtle and silky on the surface and muscular underneath. Very concentrated, tight and powerful, with mineral, iron, cocoa and chalk flavors on a foundation of superfine, powdery tannins. It’s pretty but dense, beautifully concentrated, full-bodied and well balanced.
