This Tribe called best Syrah is positively hunger-inducing. The wine’s medium-rare steak with herb butter aroma is joined by notes of blackberry compote and fresh-mowed hay. Pie cherry, smoky lapsang souchang tea and bacon fat flavors continue the theme. Surprisingly electric acidity is the equal of all that fruit, along with fine-grained tannins. SP24-2 -

The 2019 Blueline Merlot checks in as 82% Merlot, 11% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the rest Malbec and Cabernet Franc. Aged 18 months in French oak, it's a ripe, sexy, beautifully textured Merlot revealing plenty of red and blue fruits as well as notes of tobacco and sappy flowers. Killer notes of cassis, blueberries, scorched earth, burning embers, and candied violets give way to a concentrated, full-bodied, powerful wine that has the classic 2021 mid-palate while staying lively, vibrant, and elegant. It’s another wine from this lineup that can be drunk today or cellared for 20-25 years.

Ultra-classic and lights-out good, the 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon Blueline Estate is based on 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Petit Verdot, 5% each of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, and 1% Malbec, aged for 22 months in 80% new French oak. Red and black fruits, spicy wood, tobacco, and savory herb and chocolate nuances all emerge from this beauty, which is medium to full-bodied, balanced, has fine tannins, and a great finish. It does everything right and is well worth your time and money. There are roughly 990 cases produced. Drink bottles any time over the coming 15-20 years. Drink 2025-2045.

A highly luxurious style, the 2022 Greppicaia pours a dark purple/red color and is very pronounced and saturated with layered oak spice, toasted vanilla, cedar, boysenberry, plum, cigar box, and polished leather. While the oak is quite forward, this is a wine of high quality, with a bright spine of ripe acidity to balance it out and a full-bodied, broad-shouldered and well-defined, ripe texture that doesn’t feel weighted. It has a very long, salty finish with bright redcurrant fruit lasting long on the palate. I can’t help but be impressed here, although it’s going to need several years in a cellar and is built for the long haul. -

Incredibly deep, full-bodied, and opulent, yet always with a sense of purity, minerality, and length, it's a monumental wine that builds on the palate, has ultra-fine tannins, no hard edges, and an awesome finish.
