A generous plum, chocolate and earthy nose with subtle oak. Dry tannins are well integrated. An impressive modern wine. Better in 2018.

This smooth, rich red is a blend of Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes are selected from our vineyards high in the South of Mendoza, where the altitude, warm days and cool nights give wonderful elegance and complexity to the wine. It has a powerful nose of black berries, blackcurrants and hints of vanilla. The palate has ripe cassis and black plum flavors layered over smoky vanilla oak. A great accompaniment to a juicy steak or hearty casserole. UF

On the valley floor, with an almost Châteauneuf du Pape layer of small stones, is the Aida Estate, one of my favorite vineyards just north of St. Helena. The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Aida Estate is a blend of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petit Verdot and 3% Cabernet Franc aged 20 months in three-fourths new French oak. The good news is that there are 800 cases of this magnificent wine, with a somewhat Graves-like scorched-earth, charcoal, burning ember-scented nose, with notes of hot earth, blackberry and cassis fruit. Big, full-bodied, exuberant and rich, this thick, unctuously textured, purple wine should drink beautifully for 25-30 or more years. R42-5

Rich, complex nose layered with floral aromas and hints of baked pear and spice. Rich, floral and fleshy with mouth filling pear, crisp green apple and spice. The pure age of these vines give the wine texture and palate weight. SWS

There's a classic California Chardonnay backbone to this bottling, with aromas of toasted wood, crème brûlée, poached pear and apple custard, yet there are also more delicate hints of chalk and orange blossom as well. The palate combines ripe Pink Lady apples and vanilla spice and caramel richness. SWS

This Pinot Noir displays tremendous fruit intensity, reflective of the long, warm, dry 2015 growing season in the Willamette Valley. While there was plenty of heat accumulation during the summer, cool nights aided in the retention of the natural acidity and freshness the region is known for. WillaKenzie Estate’s Gisèle Pinot Noir offers ample freshness, juicy red fruit and spice on the nose, carrying through to an approachable palate with wonderful fruit concentration and length. SWS

Extensive lees contact in stainless steel tanks allows this Pinot Gris to maximize fruit expression with notes of pear and papaya. The mouthfeel is rich, yet has a strong backbone of acidity which carries the wine to a long finish. SWS
