Alvear Pedro Ximénez Solera 1927 (375 ml)$24.99–$131.94
Montilla Moriles, Andalucia, Spain
Wine Advocate 98 Rating
The NV Pedro Ximenez Solera 1927 is non-vintage, but does have some 1927 material in it. This is totally dark brown/amber with notes of figs, toffee, caramel syrup, molasses and coffee. It is dense, super sweet, intense, rich and an amazingly, unctuously textured, thick beverage to consume slowly and introspectively after a meal. Drink now through 2050, or even longer.

The 2014 Zinfandel Monte Rosso Vineyard is slightly less potent (15.5%), but production is about the same (670 cases). Dense opaque purple, with a big, sweet blackberry and cassis nose of camphor, roasted meats and hints Provençal herbs and pepper, this rich, full-bodied, inky Zinfandel should drink nicely for at least a decade as well.

From a vineyard known better for Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, this lovely aromatic white is well crafted and fruity, dry with a creaminess to the texture that's beguiling without becoming too much. Lemon, quince and apricot flavors provide a bright, lingering fleshiness that will work deliciously at the table. It spent six months in neutral French oak.
