Krutz Family 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Georges III
$149.99 – $720.00Napa Valley California
Jeb Dunnuck 96 Rating
The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Georges III Vineyard is 100% Cabernet that spent 22 months in 90% new French oak. This is a historic, larger vineyard, and the 2018 has a great nose of ripe, darker fruits, caramelized redcurrants, incense, and spice. I love its complexity, and it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, a round, elegant texture, moderate tannins, and beautiful length on the finish. A classic, impeccably made wine, it will evolve for 20 years or more.

Kumeu River 2022 Village Chardonnay
$24.99 – $216.00Auckland New Zealand
Wine Enthusiast 93 Rating
This may be the lowest priced of the Kumeu range, but there’s a salivating factor that makes it very appealing to drink now. Bright melon, peach and white florals lead, with the creamier elements tucked neatly behind. There’s a lovely lift of acidity to balance the fruit, oak and lees influence on the palate. An excellent intro to NZ’s Chardonnay benchmark producer. Drink up.

L’Aventure 2015 Estate Cuvee
$129.99Paso Robles California
Wine Advocate 96+ Rating
Blended of 55% Syrah, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Petit Verdot, the 2015 Estate Cuvee sports a deep garnet-purple color and nose of fresh black currants, blackberries and cigar box with touches of cardamom, bay leaves, pencil lead and cloves. Full-bodied and built like a brick house, it has a solid frame of grainy tannins and plenty of freshness supporting the muscular fruit, finishing with lingering black fruits. Forget it for three to four years and drink it over the next 20+. R17-2 -

The baking spice, dark raspberry and anise aromas provide appeal. Broad-feeling, textured flavors follow, with cranberry-tart acidity and brawny, firm tannins backing it up. It's an extremely impressive offering of this variety, showing its more serious side—Washington Merlot at its best. It will shine at the dinner table and will have a long life in front of it, seemingly near immortal.

L’Ecole No. 41 2016 Ferguson Estate Red Blend
$69.99 – $648.00Walla Walla Valley Washington State
Jeb Dunnuck 95 Rating
Incorporating the most Cabernet Sauvignon of the three top tier releases, the 2016 Estate Ferguson Ferguson Vineyard is 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot, and the balance Cabernet Franc and Malbec, all aged in 50% new barrels. It's a full-bodied, powerful wine that has a distinct salinity and a marine-like note in its red and black fruits, spice, crushed rocks, and cedar aromas and flavors. Full-bodied, concentrated, and structured, it nevertheless has the charming, balanced, layered style of the vintage front and center. It too has good acidity and is going to benefit from 3-4 years of bottle age.

L’Orme is the second label of the prestigious classified growth, Chateau Rauzan-Gassies, an estate which dates back to the 17th century. It’s a blend of approximately 65% Merlot and 35% Cabernet grown on the sandy gravel soils of the Medoc, just outside Margaux. This is a classic left bank Bordeaux, full-bodied with ripe cassis flavors, notes of violet, vanilla and sandalwood, followed by a firm, dry yet elegant finish.

La Bette by Jeff Carrel 2020 Cotes du Roussillon Villages
$19.99 – $192.00Languedoc France
As lively as you could wish, La Bette graces any table with amazing ease! Everything about this wine is reminiscent of this lovely Southern region: the generosity of its ubiquitous, juicy dark fruits, the feisty character that comes through in its lightly spicy notes and its immediacy, which recalls pleasure in the good things in life. Even the label is a homage to Languedoc: ‘bette’ is the name for the typical fishing boats of Côtes Catalanes. If you love Roussillon, then this is for you!
