This flamboyant Bordeaux style blend is a combination of 50% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc, and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon once again displays Russell Bervan's genius in blending. A nod to the original vintage of PerUs, this wine reveals the continued love affair between Sugar Loaf Mountain's Bordeaux varietals and Tench Vineyard's Cabernet Sauvignon. Combining these two epic vineyard sites once again display that sometimes the sum is truly greater than its parts. SP22-2

Incredible aromas of pine tree, mineral, cigar box and tobacco leaf but then it turns to currants and black truffle. Forest fruit and forest floor. Soya. Full body, round and decadent with a combination of ripe fruit and earth, spice and long finish. The uniqueness of Pavot is streaming here. R4-2

  • Peter Michael Winery 2018 La Carriere Chardonnay

Peter Michael Winery 2018 La Carriere Chardonnay

    $109.99

    Knights Valley
    Wine Advocate 97 Rating
La Carriere is situated at an elevation of around 1,200-1,700 feet with a rocky, shallow, volcanic soil that gives low fertility and is among the lowest yields of all the Peter Michael vineyards. The vineyard is planted to Dijon and Hyde (Old Wente) clone selections. This 2018 Chardonnay la Carriere starts off very citrusy, leaping from the glass with notes of fresh limes and grapefruit, before coming through with alluring honey-drizzled peaches, fresh ginger and preserved kumquat notes. The medium to full-bodied palate is super-intense with beautiful tension lighting up a shimmering palate of citrus and mineral layers, finishing long and steely. R35-4

On the nose, the 2020 Chardonnay La Carriere is flush with sunny primary fruit of peach, ripe pineapple, and flinty minerality. The body is full, with a glycerin-rich mouthfeel, and ripe with cantaloupe, custard, and lemon candy. Drink this over the next 10 or more years. R43-1

Malolactic fermentation takes place in French oak barrels. The 70% of the wine is aged for 12 months in 2nd and 3rd use French oak barrels of 225 liters. It then rests in the bottle for 6 months. Deep in color with purple hues and very bright. Great varietal typicity and spices are appreciated. It is a wine with an expressive center of mouth. Great balance and complexity from the oak ageing. It is deep and elegant, so it persists in the mouth and has a long finish.
