Beautiful notes of red plums, blueberries, sandalwood, and candied orange all flow to a medium to full-bodied red that has notable purity of fruit, a supple, sexy texture, no hard edges, and a great finish. Enjoy it over the coming decade as well.

    The 1955 Martinez Vintage Port has a deep red color, clear center, pale orange on the rim. A lovely nose of oranges and tobacco. Sweet entry, with the oranges – blood oranges – dominating the initial flavors. Lots of acidity giving the fruit plenty of support. The texture thickens in the mouth. Great development, thick and flavorful. Excellent wine. Enormous aftertaste. Cedar wood, cranberries and with a lovely sweetness lasting all the way through the long length. Improved in the glass for the short time it remained in there.

From chestnut forest and sweet earth, to anise and orange extract, the aromas are visceral, and boundless depths of wild red berries suffuse the palate. It vibrates with scintillating acidity and long, tactile tannins which stretch out leisurely. I bet that Rosso has hit its stride now – if you have some, it’s what you’ll want to drink while waiting for this captivatingly beautiful Brunello. R12-4
