  • Aspirant de Beychevelle 2018 Saint-Julien

    $39.99$210.00

    Bordeaux France
Let’s start with the territory. We are in Saint-Julien, a renowned wine region located in the Bordeaux region. Here, the production is mainly focused on red wines, especially from the Cabernet Sauvignon grape. Known for their elegance, structure and longevity. Saint-Julien extends over a relatively small territory. Despite this, it is home to some of the most prestigious wineries in the Bordeaux region. Here, the soils are rich in pebbles that ensure good drainage, creating the ideal conditions for growing vines. This is particularly the case of Beychevelle, whose vines are located on the magnificent gravel slopes that slope down to the Garonne and in the immediate vicinity of the Gironde. In addition, the presence of the two rivers guarantees a beneficial and regulating effect on the climate. 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot and 11% Cabernet Franc, this red Bordeaux fully respects the soul of its terroir of origin. Garnet red and compact, the nose reveals notes of black fruits, with notes of cedar and aromatic herbs. On the palate, on the other hand, it reveals a pleasantly full-bodied wine, with firm and well-integrated tannins. Juicy and flavorful, it has a well-balanced structure, with a savory finish. An excellent “second wine” of the Château, it is perfect to accompany meat-based lunches and dinners. Its value for money is also excellent.

A pale gold hue, limpid, which sublimates a delicate bubble. At the first nose, a few brioche notes, slightly toasted as well as aromas of ripe yellow fruits such as mirabelle plums. When aired, elegant raspberry aromas unfold. As the wine evolves, it reveals slight hints of cedar wood. Beautiful structure and freshness; minerality and saltiness in the mouth. Slight notes of grapefruit zest are delicately expressed on a long and persistent finish.

Remarkable depth of mature aromas – tons of candied lemon peel, dried pear and brioche – plus wonderful textural richness on the palate make this stand out amongst the regular Brut NVs. Then comes the intense and very long, mineral finish to crown this prince of the category. Based on 2016 base wines, but with 52% reserve wines, almost a third of which were 10 to 20 years of age. Drink or hold.

  • Chateau Clos Marsalette 2018 Red Blend

    $39.99$210.00

    Pessac-Leognan Bordeaux France
    Jeb Dunnuck 93 Rating
The 2018 Clos Marsalette is another winner, offering a ripe, medium to full-bodied, textured, and already delicious style that carries lots of red and black fruits, tobacco, earth, and a touch of spring flower-like aromas and flavors. Possessing beautiful purity, it has ripe, present tannins, yet they're almost covered by a wealth of fruit and extract. A blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon and 45% Merlot, it's well worth seeking out and is going to shine for 15-20 years. R11-2

  • Chateau D’esclans 2022 Whispering Angel Rose

    $19.99$216.00

    Cotes De Provence France
    Tasting Panel 94 Rating
This wine is close to the tip of the quality pyramid of Provençal rosé in most vintages, and the 2022 release is certainly no exception. Comprised mostly of Grenache, Cinsault, and Vermentino, it is both unusually concentrated though not remotely heavy-and atypically flavorful for the category while maintaining the sense of restraint and subtlety that has made Provence the global stylistic leader for wines of this type. The aromas and flavors are impressively pure and well defined.

  • Chateau de Beaucastel 2020 Chateauneuf-du-Pape Vieilles Vignes Roussanne

    $189.99

    Southern Rhone Valley France
    Jeb Dunnuck 98-100 Rating
Even better, the 2020 Châteauneuf Du Pape Roussanne Vieilles Vignes comes from a single parcel of very old vines and is 100% Roussanne brought up in barrel. It too is medium to full-bodied and incredibly concentrated, with brilliant white currants, green almond, honeyed mineral, and spice-driven aromas and flavors. The balance is just about perfect, as is the purity of fruit, and this incredible white is one of the top releases in the vintage. As I’ve written in the past, it’s the Montrachet of the Southern Rhône and can evolve for decades in cold cellars. R35-1

  • Chateau de Saint Cosme 2019 Gigondas

    Highly Recommended Selection

Dark and winey, this structured offering packs red and black currant paste flavors together with threads of charcoal, warm stone, bay leaf and savory, ending with a long tug of cast iron through the finish. A blue chip for cellaring. Grenache, Mourvèdre, Syrah and Cinsault. Drink now through 2035. Only 930 cases imported. R24-5
