Graphite and lead pencil is coming through, together with violets and blackberries. Some tar and asphalt, too. Full-bodied, yet creamy and crunchy, with agile liveliness that goes on for minutes. Fabulous length. Drinkable already but will age gracefully for decades. SP46-6

Very precisely polished and focused wine with aromas of black cherries, blue berries and violets followed by green bell pepper, black ink and gravel. Underlying umami notes, too. Full-bodied, firm yet finely grained juicy tannins with bright acidity that balances out the palate. Beautifully integrated toasty notes and baking spices on the mid-palate and in the finish. Flourishing and artful wine that will age gracefully. Try after 2027. SP21-2

Effusive aromas of black figs, toasted oak, espresso beans and turned earth lead to dense, layered flavors of blackberries, wood smoke, black pepper and star anise. This is a fascinating, complex and rather tannic wine that’s sure to keep improving with time. Best 2027–2037. SP12-6

  • Gassier Rose 2024 Rose

    $19.99$96.00

    Cotes de Provence France

A blend of Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah and Vermentino. The grapes were harvested at night, ensuring a cool temperature and limiting the risk of oxidation. This was followed by direct, slow and gentle pressing, reducing contact between the skins and the juice to preserve the freshness and lightness of the fruit, while avoiding excessive coloring of the juice. The juice was carefully fermented at a low temperature to preserve its fresh, delicate aromas. The palate opens with fresh flavors of strawberry, açaí and papaya, with a kiss of vanilla and a touch of peppery spice on the long, juicy, chalky mineral finish.

  • Saint-Damien 2021 Gigondas Vieilles Vignes

    $39.99

    Southern Rhone Valley France
    Vinous 95 Rating
Vivid ruby. A highly fragrant bouquet evokes candied red fruits, smoky minerals and lavender; a spicy nuance builds as the wine opens up. Sappy and penetrating on the palate, juicy raspberry, cherry and floral pastille flavors show good heft, seamless texture and real energy. It finishes spicy and impressively long, with sneaky tannins adding a final grip. This is shaping up to be a highly impressive entry-level bottling, which is not surprising given that this is the only Gigondas that will be bottled this year, so all the juice from the Louisiane and Souteyrades is going into this wine. Get it, lots of it, if you can. Raised in neutral, 50 hectoliter oak foudres. R5-2

  • Sojourn 2023 Pinot Noir Rogers Creek Vineyard

    $59.99$312.00

    Sonoma Coast California
The cool 2023 weather was ideal for ripening Pinot Noir at Rodgers Creek Vineyard. The grapes matured at an even pace, resulting in a mix of vibrant red and dark fruit flavors with hints of mushroom and earth. This vineyard sits high on a ridge in the heart of the windy Petaluma Gap. Its climate and steep slopes are well suited for growing exceptional Pinot Noir. This 2023 vintage is a blend of Pommard clone and 667, with 20% of the grapes fermented whole cluster to add verve and layers of complexity to the final wine.

Kirsch, candied raspberry and blueberry dominate the nose of this deeply colored blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. The palate is a pleasure bomb of berry fruit within a framework of oaky structure. Lively balancing acidity on the finish accompanies the grip of those tannins. Most stores $89.99 R10-4
