Saxum Vineyards 2021 G2 Vineyard
$199.99Willow Creek District Paso Robles California
Jeb Dunnuck 97-99 Rating
Not yet bottled but already incredibly impressive, the 2021 G2 will be Grenache-dominated but includes smaller amounts of Syrah and Graciano. It’s loaded with red and black raspberry-like fruits as well as tons of floral, pepper, and spicy nuances, which carry to a full-bodied, pure, elegant red. It’s remarkably complex for such a young wine and has incredible tannins and a gorgeous finish. Don’t miss it. SP36-5 -
Saxum Vineyards 2020 Hexe
$199.99Willow Creek District Paso Robles California
Jeb Dunnuck 96 Rating
A step up over the Rocket Block and one of the finest 2020s out there, the 2020 Hexe is 51% Grenache, 17% Petite Sirah, and the rest Graciano and Mourvèdre, all from a single parcel of old vines in the James Berry Vineyard. Darker red and black fruits, smoked herbs, graphite, and spicy notes all dominate the bouquet, and it’s full-bodied, has terrific concentration, and ripe, polished tannins. It’s a gorgeous bottle of wine. SP36-5 -

Bouchard Pere & Fils 2021 Beaune 1er Cru Du Chateau
$49.99 – $240.00Beaune Burgundy France
Wine Advocate 91 Rating
Bursting with aromas of raspberries, sweet spices and deep soil tones, the 2021 Beaune 1er Cru du Château is medium-bodied, ample and charming, with lively acids, melting tannins and a saline finish. This high-quality, comparatively accessible bottling is always reliable, though I confess I’d love to see some of the great parcels that go into it as standalone cuvées.

Wine Advocate 92 Rating
Matured for 10 months in 35% new French oak, the 2020 Chardonnay Estate opens with savory undertones and flinty streaks before giving way to a core of white peach, panna cotta and allspice. The palate is ripe, concentrated and mouth-coating, although its lively acidity creates balance. It ends with an expansive, savory finish. Drink it over the next 5-8 years.

Shows nicely coiled energy, with a core of black cherry, mulberry and plum fruit allied to racy acidity, which carries through on the iris- and anise-tinged finish. A subtle, smoldering earth accent hangs in the background, leaving a flinty echo. Drink now through 2033. 1,165 cases made.
