Booker Vineyard 2016 Fulldraw
$89.99Paso Robles California
Jeb Dunnuck 95 Rating
Made from Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre, the 2016 Fulldraw comes from the Fulldraw Vineyard which is located right behind the estate Booker Vineyard. It's another elegant, silky wine that offers terrific crème de cassis, crushed violets, licorice and chalky mineral-like aromas and flavors. Full-bodied, silky and pure, with fine tannin and good (maybe not great length), it has stunning purity and is going to drink nicely right out of the gate. SP20-2 -

Sourced from the famous Ghost Block Vineyard, the 2019 vintage has bold aromatics of dark cherry, ripe plum and blackcurrant that are met with delicate floral notes of lavender and violet, and finishes with spicy black pepper and clove. On the palate, blackberry, black cherry, and cassis are supported with layers of dark chocolate and cacao and rounded out with herbal notes of bay leaf and tobacco giving the wine stunning richness and depth. Medium to full-bodied with fine grained tannins and nicely balanced acidity create a beautiful long, lengthy finish that shows off the unique terroir of the iconic vineyard from where it originates. Cliff Lede 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Poetry
$249.99Napa Valley California
Wine Advocate 95+ Rating
Always one of the stars of Napa is Cliff Lede’s Cabernet Sauvignon Poetry and the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Poetry is a blend of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and the rest Petit Verdot. Never the biggest wine made by Cliff Lede, this is an elegant, classic Stags Leap example with finesse allied to beautifully pure power and balance. Deep and rich and possibly, at this stage, less expressive than some of its siblings, it is simply loaded and poised for a brilliant future. Consumers should give this 4-5 years of bottle age and drink it over the following 25-30 years. R41-2 SP22-1 -
Shafer Vineyards 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Hillside Select
$299.99Napa Valley California
Wine Advocate 98 Rating
I was able to taste four vintages of the estate’s flagship Cabernet Sauvignon, their Hillside Select. This first growth-like cuvée was first made in 1978 and always comes from their estate Hillside Vineyard just above their estate in Stags Leap. This is a 54-acre south-facing, amphitheater-like vineyard of thin, rocky, volcanic soils. Today the cuvée is always 100% Cabernet Sauvignon that spends upwards of 32 months in new French oak. It is consistently one of the greatest Cabernet Sauvignons in the world. Starting with their 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Hillside Select, it boasts a deep, saturated purple hue as well as a heavenly bouquet of sweet blueberry and cassis fruits interwoven with plenty of graphite, tobacco, and lead pencil notes, with ample minerality emerging with time in the glass. This was a hot, low-yielding vintage for Napa, and while this beauty is massively concentrated, it’s also silky and seamless, with great tannins, no sense of over-ripeness or heaviness, and a finish that goes on for nearly a minute. This is a brilliant, incredibly sexy wine to enjoy over the coming 30-40 years. R27-4 -
Shafer 2018 Hillside Select Cabernet Sauvignon
$349.99Napa Valley
Jeb Dunnuck 100 Rating
Incredible purity and precision, as well as opulence, define the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Hillside Select, and this is as good as any Cabernet Sauvignon in the world today. Revealing a deep purple hue as well as a thrilling bouquet of pure crème de cassis, black raspberries, spring flowers, lead pencil shavings, and an incredible minerality, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, a deep, layered, seamless texture, ample mid-palate depth, and a great finish. This is classic 2018 Napa Valley with its purity, freshness and precision as well as sensational concentration and perfectly integrated acidity, tannins, and alcohol. It delivers pleasure today yet warrants a solid 4-5 years of bottle age and is going to be a 30- to 40-year wine. SP31-3 SPBX-6 -
Ridge 2012 Monte Bello
$274.99Santa Cruz Mountains California
Antonio Galloni 98 Rating
The 2012 Monte Bello is one of the most harmonious young Monte Bellos I can remember tasting. Seamless and voluptuous through to the finish, the 2012 is showing beautifully today. Raspberry jam, pomegranate, white flowers, mint and spices are some of the many notes that flesh out in the glass. A wine with a distinctly red-hued profile, silky tannins, no hard edges and exceptional overall balance, the 2012 Monte Bello is simply magnificent. The 2012 is racy but also impeccably balanced throughout, with shades of the 2001 that come through from time to time. I won't be surprised if the 2013 and 2014 both eventually surpass it, but there is no denying that the 2012 is simply stunning today. This is one of the best showings yet for the 2012. BX-3 BX-3 -

Clark Claudon 2013 Eternity Cabernet Sauvignon

The stunning 2013 Eternity Proprietary Red wine is obviously a Bordeaux blend. It reveals unsmoked cigar tobacco and licorice, Christmas fruitcake, cedar wood and plenty of blackberry and cassis fruit along with a full-bodied palate. The oak is well-disguised by the wine’s lavish concentration and intensity. It should drink beautifully for another 20+ years. SP28-7
