The essence of the historic Monte Rosso Vineyard’s bright red volcanic soils appeared to be magically carried over into the aromatics and color of the wine during fermentation. However, post elevage and assemblage, the wine transmogrified itself into a cabernet of blue/black complexion. The aromatics are effusive of freshly baked mixed berry pie, cinnamon, allspice, bay leaf, and sweet cacaoa nibs from the 60% new French Oak barrels. On the palate, this wine is probably the least tannic in our entire portfolio of Cabernets. The pedigree of the Monte Rosso vineyard, especially considering the difficult growing conditions of the 2020 vintage, is exemplified by the intensity of fruit and electric minerality. The wine’s extended finish is enveloped with a welcoming intensity of medium-fine tannin. -

Shy at first, this wine opens up with elevated notes of spearmint, ginger, and white tea flower on the nose. The 60% whole cluster appears to educate the overt fruitiness provided by the very warm 2022 vintage. Aged for 18 months in slightly used barriques, followed by several months of bottle aging. 55% Merlot, 35% Syrah, 10% Sangiovese. Deep garnet color. The nose is rich with notes of licorice, sage and thyme. Its specific Mediterranean character is balanced with intense aromas of well-ripe small dark berries. Loam- and clay-rich terre brune, brown soils. A medium bodied wine with silky tannins and refreshing acidity. It opens with sweet and juicy notes of blackberry and black cherry, and then it ends with a pleasant salty and savory hint.

The 2020 Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Podium is youthfully inward and coy at first, with a dusty florality and hints of cardamom in the glass. Swirling unlocks nuances of sage and rosemary, ginger and hints of smoky cracked stones, yet its fruit, leaning toward apricot, is still quite shy. Today, this impresses more on the palate, deeply savory and mineral in style, with a herbal twang and sour melon which place it firmly into the green fruit spectrum, all brilliantly offset by a saturating salty sensation. The palate is left reeling with spicy tension; the 2020 finishes structured, leaving the cheeks puckered and the mouth watering thanks to a late-arriving bump of zesty acidity. This will take some time to show its best, but it will be time well spent.

A blend of Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah and Vermentino. The grapes were harvested at night, ensuring a cool temperature and limiting the risk of oxidation. This was followed by direct, slow and gentle pressing, reducing contact between the skins and the juice to preserve the freshness and lightness of the fruit, while avoiding excessive coloring of the juice. The juice was carefully fermented at a low temperature to preserve its fresh, delicate aromas. The palate opens with fresh flavors of strawberry, açaí and papaya, with a kiss of vanilla and a touch of peppery spice on the long, juicy, chalky mineral finish.
