Marques de Murrieta 2020 Rioja Reserva
$27.99 – $132.00Rioja Spain
Wine Advocate 94 Rating
The 2020 Rioja Reserva, their flagship wine, comes from the 300 hectares of estate vineyards. Here, Tempranillo is the backbone, making up 82% of the blend in the low-yielding vintage of 2019, complemented with 8% Graciano, 7% Mazuelo and 3% Garnacha. It has controlled ripeness at 14% alcohol, with a pH of 3.65 and 5.1 grams of acidity. I loved the aromatics here—floral and elegant, more in the style of the 2018 than the 2019. it’s lighter, more elegant, fine-boned and has a silky texture and very fine tannins. Both 2019 and 2020 are very good, but 2020 is more my style.

Marrone 2023 Langhe Arneis Tre Fie
$29.99 – $288.00Piedmont Italy
A View from the cellar 93 Rating
The 2023 Arneis “Tre Fie” bottling from the Marrone sisters is a beautiful example of this varietal. The bouquet is bright and complex, wafting from the glass in a mix of fresh lime, green apple, a complex base of stony minerality, a touch of green olive, lemongrass and a topnote of wild flowers. On the palate the wine is vibrant, full-bodied, complex and zesty, with an excellent core of fruit, lovely mineral undertow, fine focus and balance and a long, vibrant finish. This is one of the best example of Arneis I have ever tasted! 2025 – 2030

Ruby, violet edge. Ripe black fruit, blackberry and plum, and toasted bread blended with spicy notes of quality oak. Voluminous, warm, silky. Ripe tannins give body and great structure, pleasant to drink, the mineral notes make it peculiar. Long and persistent aftertaste.

This voluptuous, full-bodied and sleek wine is layered in luxurious blue and black fruits that saturate the palate while superfine tannins shape the middle and finish. Mint and floral notes accent the gorgeous fruits. A truly impressive mountain wine that punches way above its price range. Best after 2029.

Deep and robust, this full-flavored and firmly tannic wine is powerful with black cherries, cassis and mint, cloaked in vivid, mouth-coating tannins. The depth, concentration and layering are impressive and bode well for further development with age. Most stores $109.99

The 2017 Pinot Noir Zio Tony Ranch brings together all the best elements of the Martinelli house style. Sweet dark cherry, plum, spice, lavender, leather and menthol flesh out in the glass. Juicy and voluptuous, yet also medium in body, the 2017 has so much to give in an up-front style that offers tons of near and medium term appeal. SP5-1 BX-9 -

Medium ruby-purple in color, the 2019 Zinfandel Giuseppe & Luisa bursts with singular aromas of dried lavender and citrus peel, smoky, mineral-like undertones and loads of exotic spices over a core of wild berry preserves and peaches. It’s incredible in the mouth, its full flavors delivered in a silky, ultra fresh and lifted frame, and it finishes with loads of floral nuance. Wow! 1,653 cases produced.
