Marques de Murrieta 2020 Rioja Reserva
$27.99 – $132.00Rioja Spain
Wine Advocate 94 Rating
The 2020 Rioja Reserva, their flagship wine, comes from the 300 hectares of estate vineyards. Here, Tempranillo is the backbone, making up 82% of the blend in the low-yielding vintage of 2019, complemented with 8% Graciano, 7% Mazuelo and 3% Garnacha. It has controlled ripeness at 14% alcohol, with a pH of 3.65 and 5.1 grams of acidity. I loved the aromatics hereāfloral and elegant, more in the style of the 2018 than the 2019. it’s lighter, more elegant, fine-boned and has a silky texture and very fine tannins. Both 2019 and 2020 are very good, but 2020 is more my style.

Deep ruby in the glass, this wine has a nose of blackberry, black cherry, milk chocolate and clove. There is a nice balance of spice and fruit on the palate, with flavors of black currant, pomegranate, clove, licorice and dark chocolate. Sturdy tannins dissipate into a lengthy finish.

Ruby, violet edge. Ripe black fruit, blackberry and plum, and toasted bread blended with spicy notes of quality oak. Voluminous, warm, silky. Ripe tannins give body and great structure, pleasant to drink, the mineral notes make it peculiar. Long and persistent aftertaste.

This voluptuous, full-bodied and sleek wine is layered in luxurious blue and black fruits that saturate the palate while superfine tannins shape the middle and finish. Mint and floral notes accent the gorgeous fruits. A truly impressive mountain wine that punches way above its price range. Best after 2029.

The 2017 Pinot Noir Bondi Home Ranch is pale to medium ruby-purple with a nose of licorice, blueberry compote, boysenberry and black cherry preserves, with turned earth and exotic spice in the background. Martinelli 2017 Zio Tony Pinot Noir
$69.99Russian River Valley California
Antonio Galloni 95 Rating
The 2017 Pinot Noir Zio Tony Ranch brings together all the best elements of the Martinelli house style. Sweet dark cherry, plum, spice, lavender, leather and menthol flesh out in the glass. Juicy and voluptuous, yet also medium in body, the 2017 has so much to give in an up-front style that offers tons of near and medium term appeal. SP5-2
