It is a marvellously compact and coiled-up wine with a towering structure. Very beautifully fragrant dried purple flowers and herbs. Full-bodied with loads of succulent ripe blackberry, creme de cassis, graphite, and loamy earth. Very firm, tight-grained tannins form the base note of this wine, and the finish is long and rich in wild herbs and spices. Cellar worthy. It will release internationally in September 2024. It is rounded out with 6% Merlot. R25-1

Mâconnais, Burgundy, France. Sustainable. 100% Chardonnay. Understated style, with light incense and worn cedar notes running along the edges of the slightly dried currant, raspberry and red cherry fruit flavors. The cedary edge lingers longest in the end. Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre. Best from 2023 through 2030.

Domaine de Fontsainte 2021 Rose Corbieres Gris de Gris
$17.99 – $180.00Languedoc-Roussillon France
A bottle of Gris de Gris never disappoints, and there is something to be said for catching the wine in its fresh, lively youth. Although it stays delicious for well over a year, there is an unmatched succulence immediately upon its arrival on our shores, as if the entire citrus family had been squeezed into a juicy nectar of crisp, mouthwatering delightfulness. Few things in life are as satisfying and refreshing as a bracing glass of this benchmark southern rosé—a lesson happily learned again and again, vintage after vintage..

The Vice 2021 The House Cabernet Sauvignon
$27.99 – $288.00Napa Valley California
Fragrance of ripe dark berries, pomegranate molasses and warm cranberry sauce with shades of vanilla and hickory. A multi-dimensional mouthfeel sporting red berry bramble and licorice on the entrance, picking up along the way loads of dark cacao and spiced almonds on the mid-palate. The lush and lengthy finish perfectly matches the aromas of the earlier nose, with waves of violet and fresh tobacco leaf.

So much ash and dried-strawberry character. Burnt orange-peel undertones. Tar, too. It’s full-bodied with chewy tannins and a flavorful finish. Lots of rose petals. This needs four or five years to open, but nicely integrated now.

Chateau de Beaucastel 2022 Chateauneuf-du-Pape Vieilles Vignes Roussanne
$199.99Southern Rhone Valley France
Jeb Dunnuck 100 Rating
Brought up all in new demi-muids and barrels, the 100% Roussanne 2022 Châteauneuf Du Pape Roussanne Vieilles Vignes offers a heavenly bouquet of ripe quince, acacia flowers, toasted almonds, citrus oil, and spice. Ful-bodied, deep, concentrated, and layered, with an unctuous style, this is pure Beaucastel magic. Reminding me of the 2009 (which is drinking brilliantly today), it deserves 2-4 years of bottle age and will absolutely blow you away over the following decade or more. SPBX-6
