This is a Goldilocks porridge wine where everything from the lemony acidity to the sturdy tannins was “just right.” It is medium bodied fare, with blackberry, Thai basil and orange zest flavors. Violet and cinnamon-stick aromas blend harmoniously with notes of dark raspberries and blueberry fruit leather. It is a stunning value.

Chateau des Jacques 2020 Moulin-A-Vent
$26.99 – $144.00Beaujolais France
James Suckling 93 Rating
I love the way this sophisticated Moulin-a-Vent marries the bright red fruit you expect from Beaujolais with savory character and a warm, tannin base that enables it to turn the bright acidity of the gamay grape into a major asset. Long, complex finish with depth and energy in near-perfect balance.

The 2021 vintage showcases a striking deep purple hue, a result of the dry yet optimal growing conditions that allowed for smooth and even ripening of the grapes. Aromas of opulent black cherry and plum are complimented by clove, cinnamon, and vanilla, with savory hints of black pepper and coriander. The dynamic aromas are mirrored on the palate with touches of anise and citrus peel. The wine is rich yet soft with a finish that entices another sip. Aged for 19 months in French Oak (30% New) and only 150 cases made.

Intensely rich and layered aromas of roasted plum, blackberry, melted dark chocolate and turned earth draw the nose deeply into the blend of 42% Syrah, 23% Mourvèdre, 24% Grenache, 9% Petite Sirah and 5% Carignan. The mouthfeel is alluringly creamy and yet firmly texture on the edges, carrying lush flavors of baking spice and roasted fruit, but with a lingering brightness that extends through the finish.

DeLille Cellars 2019 Chaleur Blanc
$34.99Columbia Valley Washington State
Jeb Dunnuck 94 Rating
One of the best Bordeaux Blanc blends coming out of Washington, the 2019 Chaleur Blanc checks in as 69% Sauvignon Blanc and 31% Semillon that was barrel fermented and aged in 60% new oak. Honeyed grapefruit, white flowers, sappy, green herbs, and a kiss of minerality all define the bouquet, and this beauty is medium-bodied, with a beautifully balanced, concentrated mouthfeel and a great finish. It ranks with the top examples of this cuvée I've tasted. R21-1 -
Kistler Vineyards 2023 ‘Les Noisetiers’ Chardonnay
$64.99Sonoma Coast California
This ‘Les Noisetiers’ Chardonnay is Kistler’s multi-vineyard Chardonnay bottling based on the three Sonoma Coast vineyards from which they bottle single vineyard examples; Vine Hill, Trenton Roadhouse and Dutton Ranch. ‘Noisetiers’ means ‘hazelnut’ in French and “refers to the lightly toasted hazelnut characters manifested year in and year out from these sites.” As with the vineyard-designates, this wine is barrel fermented and aged on the lees in 25% new three year air-dried French oak barrels for 11 months, after which time it is transferred to stainless steel tank for another three months of aging before bottling. -
Mauritson 2017 Zinfandel

Wine Enthusiast 93 Rating
Editors' Choice Award
The producer's only non-estate wine, this hails from some tremendous grower sites, including Faloni, Buchignani and Montecillo. It excels in thick tannins and black pepper, leather and black currant. It offers plenty of structure and intensity, with balanced ripeness and a lasting taste of sweet oak. SP14-5 -
Massolino 2016 Barolo
$64.99Piedmont Italy
Wine Spectator 95 Rating
A stream of pure, juicy cherry fruit is at the heart of this red, along with mineral, tobacco and wild herb notes. Firm and tightly wound, with a matrix of dense, refined tannins for support. All the elements are in the right proportions, this just needs time. SP49-5
