The color is bright and deep ruby red with bluish highlights. The nose is intense with full aromas of ripe red fruits, mineral (schist) and smoky hints on soft spices. This full-bodied wine has a nice balance between sweetness and a fine tannic structure. The fruity and peppery flavors dominate on licorice and Espelette pepper finish. This Châteauneuf-du-Pape wine is really complex, full of freshness and elegance with a long finish. 80% Grenache, 15% Syrah, 5% Mourvèdre.

Light yellow gold. Attractive, multifaceted aroma, youthful and moderately full, showing a mélange of quince and fennel complemented by a toasted note. The palate reveals more, notably ripe yellow fruits, spice and herbal highlights. At first open, the wine falls off slightly, then continues to reveal a persistent aromatic conclusion. Well-integrated acidity surfaces at the end together with a mouth-coating texture. Easily the best wine for pairing with lobster but also delicious with other seafood, puff-pastries, white meats, or goat cheeses.

The domaine farms their high altitude parcels with extreme care, focusing on small yields and sustainable practices. Once in the cellar, extraction is kept to an absolute minimum, only indigenous yeasts are used, and the wines are aged and fermented in barrel. Finishes on a repeating floral note, showing excellent clarity and polished tannins. Giraud’s entry-level bottling has been going from strength to strength in recent vintages.
