Description
2018 was a near perfect vintage and began in late February, followed a mild spring with extended flowering yielding plentiful and even fruit set. The relatively mild summer followed by extended fall sunshine and moderate heat created ideal conditions for well-developed fruit profiles and balanced wines with great tannic structure. The grapes were hand-harvested, doublesorted and cold-soaked in stainless steel for 7 days before beginning whole berry fermentation for 18 days. The wine went through secondary fermentation in French oak barrels, assuring a balanced integration of fruit and oak. Barrel aged for 20 months in 80% new French oak including Baron, Darnajou, Ermitage and Taransaud. Bottled unfiltered and unfined. Only 600 cases produced.
