While just bottled a week before this tasting, the 2019 Syrah Powerline Vineyard certainly wasn't showing any worse for it, offering a stunning bouquet of ripe red and black fruits as well as white pepper, sandalwood, tobacco, and new leather. Pure, medium to full-bodied, and vibrant, with supple, polished tannins, this brilliant Syrah is going to keep for 10-12 years, if not longer.

K Vintners 2019 Syrah Rockgarden Vineyard
Price range: $44.99 through $240.00Walla Walla Valley Washington State
Jeb Dunnuck 95 Rating
Iron, black olives, peppery herbs, and both red and black fruits all emerge from the 2019 Syrah Rockgarden Vineyard, a balanced, deep, medium to full-bodied beauty with fine tannins and just about flawless balance. Coming all from the Rockgarden Vineyard in the Rocks region of the Walla Walla Valley and 100% Syrah that was not destemmed and was brought up in 40% new barrel, it's drinking brilliantly today and will cruise in cold cellars for a decade. Best After 2022. BX-24

K Vintners 2022 Syrah M.C.K. Motor City Kitty
$38.99Yakima Valley Washington State
James Suckling 98 Rating
This is an extremely complex, smoky, terroir-driven syrah that offers crushed wild berries and plum skins layered with hints of white pepper and cured meat. Broad, mouth-filling and full-bodied, it has a mineral, peppery edge and dusty, very fine tannins. Long and persistent, showing hints of crushed herbs and ashy soil in the end. Drink or hold. -
K Vintners 2023 Art Den Hoed Viognier
Price range: $19.99 through $108.00Yakima Valley Washington State
Jeb Dunnuck 94 Rating
With a kiss of reduction in its white peach, honeyed flowers, and subtle tangerine notes, the 2023 Viognier Art Den Hoed hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, a round, lush mouthfeel, and a clean, light, graceful, incredibly drinkable style. It’s a beautiful, incredibly classy Viognier that I’d happily put side by side with anything from the Northern Rhône. Drink bottles over the coming couple of years.

With a floral, slate and peppery-herb cast to the concentrated dried cherry and plum paste flavors that lengthen nicely around a gentle push of fresh acidity, this red ends on a toast note, showing hints of chocolate. Drink now through 2034.

Kamen 2022 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon
Price range: $119.99 through $642.00Sonoma Valley California
Vinous 90 Rating
The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon is the only red wine Kamen bottled in 2022 because of severe heat. Dark, pliant and super-expressive, the 2022 is quite attractive. Super-ripe black cherry, plum, espresso, menthol and licorice are nicely pushed forward. There’s good mid-palate depth and solid balance here, but it’s a bit assertive in style. This is a very good wine, given what was possible

Kathryn Hall 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon
$189.99Napa Valley California
Jeb Dunnuck 95 Rating
The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Kathryn Hall is a blend of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Merlot, brought up mostly in new barrels. It’s a killer bottle of wine offering lots of ripe black fruits intermixed with savory herbs, melted chocolate, and tobacco. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it shows the lush, round, velvety style of the 2019 vintage and is already impossible to resist. It’s going to evolve for 15+ years if well stored. R34-2 -

Jeb Dunnuck 97 Rating
The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Kathryn Hall comes from a mix of sites in the valley. It’s a ripe, concentrated, impressive 2021 offering lots of ripe plum and darker currant-like fruit as well as ample baking spice, leather, and dried tobacco notes. Rich and full-bodied, with ripe tannins, beautiful mid-palate density, and a great finish, this ripe, sexy, pleasure-bent beauty will also evolve gracefully.
