Russiz Superiore 2017 Collio Cabernet Franc
$29.99 – $150.00Friuli-Venezia Giulia Italy
Vinous 91 Rating
Masses of purple-tinged peppery florals, crushed plums and smoky minerals lift up from the 2017 Cabernet Franc. It’s lean and focused in the mouth, coming across as salty and savory with tart wild berries that saturate all that they touch. That said, the 2017 maintains wonderful energy, even through its structured and almost-chewy finish. While this shows a bit of the warm vintage with its intense fruit and gruff tannin, it should still flesh out nicely and drink beautifully over the medium term.

Sourced from the Historic Frediani Vineyard in Calistoga, this Zin spends 24 months in oak. The few extra years in the bottle has turned out a stunner in this Zin which could even evolve another 10 years. This is a Cabernet lovers Zin! Saint Cosme 2017 Saint-Joseph
$49.99Northern Rhone Valley France
Wine Enthusiast 93 Rating
Layers of dried sage, bramble and green peppercorns lend a Sauvage appeal to plump, juicy black cherry and plum in this wine. It’s a full bodied but graceful Syrah fringed by fine tannins. The finish is delightfully floral, etched by violet and rose-petal perfume. Lovely already, the wine should drink well through 2027. SP36-5 -
Saint Cosme 2018 Gigondas
$49.99Southern Rhone Valley France
Wine Advocate 93 Rating
Saint Cosme's 2018 Gigondas is a blend of 70% Grenache, 15% Mourvèdre, 14% Syrah and 1% Cinsault, aged in a combination of new and used oak, with 30% of the volume matured in concrete. Full-bodied and generous, it's round and supple, with no hard edges to hamper the easy flow of asphalt, red raspberries and black cherries across the palate. Boasting ample but not excessive concentration, it's a lovely, seductive example of Gigondas to enjoy over the next decade or so. SP38-10 -
Saint-Damien 2021 Gigondas Vieilles Vignes
$39.99Southern Rhone Valley France
Vinous 95 Rating
Vivid ruby. A highly fragrant bouquet evokes candied red fruits, smoky minerals and lavender; a spicy nuance builds as the wine opens up. Sappy and penetrating on the palate, juicy raspberry, cherry and floral pastille flavors show good heft, seamless texture and real energy. It finishes spicy and impressively long, with sneaky tannins adding a final grip. This is shaping up to be a highly impressive entry-level bottling, which is not surprising given that this is the only Gigondas that will be bottled this year, so all the juice from the Louisiane and Souteyrades is going into this wine. Get it, lots of it, if you can. Raised in neutral, 50 hectoliter oak foudres. R5-2
