Duca di Saragnano Passone
Price range: $14.99 through $162.00Puglia Italy
Passone is produced with dried grapes. The intense and brilliant color with delicate purple reflections translates into a complex aroma of blackberry, cherries in alcohol, plum jam and elegant spices on the finish. With a warm, soft and rightly tannic taste, it goes well with beef and aged cheeses.

DuMol 2021 Isobel Charles Heintz Vineyard Chardonnay
$89.99Sonoma Coast California
Wine Advocate 98 Rating
The 2021 Chardonnay Isobel Charles Heintz Vineyard is the 20th bottling of a Heintz Vineyard Chardonnay at DuMOL. It was harvested September 25-27, matured in larger barrels and finished with six months in stainless steel. “There are very few better vintages of this,” winemaker Andy Smith exclaims during our tasting, and I have to agree. It’s bursting with scents of matchstick, chamomile, Greek yogurt and white peach, and over time, it unfurls unique spicy, herbal undertones. The palate is intensely concentrated, boasting expansive, dynamic flavors that segue from stone fruit to honey. Satiny and seamless, it has a tremendously long finish with mind-altering depth of flavor. Fans of Burgundy will love it for its flinty tones, and fans of California for its concentration and power. The 2022 Chardonnay Charles Heintz Vineyard Isobel shimmies out with energetic notes of lemon tart, juicy grapefruit, and yuzu followed by hints of lime blossom and sea spray. The medium-bodied palate is vibrant and refreshing, with a crisp backbone and long minerally finish. This was picked on September 4, just before the heat. R37-3 Most stores $89.99 -
Dunn 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain
$179.99Napa Valley California
Vinous 98 Rating
The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain is outrageously beautiful. A wine of extraordinary purity, the 2019 dazzles right out of the gate. The tannins are nearly silky for a young Howell Mountain Cabernet. Red/purplish fruit, lavender, spice, rose petal and pomegranate all build in this sumptuous, explosive Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2019 is one of the most elegant Cabernets I have tasted here, and that is saying something What a wine! R21-1 -
Durfort-Vivens 2019 Les Plantes
$39.99Margaux Bordeaux France
Wine Enthusiast 97 Rating
Maturing in two-thirds barrels and one-third amphorae, this wine is already beautiful. Made from 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, it shows a fine balance between dense tannins and elegant, ripe black fruit. The promise for this biodynamic wine is immense and certainly long-term. SP48-6 CF-2 -
E. Guigal 2017 La Landonne Côte-Rôtie
$399.99Northern Rhone Valley
Jeb Dunnuck 97-100 Rating
A ripe, sexy nose of smoked game, truffly earth, chocolate, and jammy black and blue fruits emerge from the 2017 Côte Rôtie La Landonne. Made from 100% Syrah from the schist soils of the La Landonne lieu-dit, aged four years in oak, this massive, full-bodied 2017 shows the sexier, riper style of the vintage, yet it has incredible tannins, a deep, layered mid-palate, and nothing out of place. It will be interesting to see if it hits the heights of past great vintages, such as 2015, 2010, 2009, 2005, or 2003, but it’s certainly in the same ballpark. R13-1
