The 2021 Pinot Noir Sta. Rita Hills, matured for 10 months in neutral oak, is the first appellation-wide Pinot from Donnachadh. Like the Chardonnay, this vintage was sourced entirely from the Donnachadh estate, although that may not be the case in the future. It has a pale ruby color and very pure, fragrant scents of cranberry, raspberry, strawberry, bergamot, tea leaves and herbs. The medium-bodied palate is finely chalky and wonderfully fresh, boasting concentrated red berry flavors, fine citrusy accents and a long, ethereal finish. This really stands out for its detail and expression—it’s as if the volume was turned up yet the definition preserved. R11-4 -

Zibibbo is the Sicilian name for Muscat of Alexandria. Executed in a dry style, the Donnafugata 2020 Sicilia Zibibbo Lighea is softly floral and fragrant with honeysuckle and perfumed star jasmine that is appropriately called Sicilian jasmine in Italy. This easy, lean-bodied wine has the acidity to cut through fried olives or eggplant balls with mint and breadcrumbs. You get so much easy charm in this bottle.

Vineyard manager Blake Wood emphasizes identifying blocks within areas like the ‘P Neighborhood’ of the To Kalon site, divided into distinct parcels. The wine exhibits a bright and vibrant profile, leaning toward red-fruited characteristics with crunchy black cherry and ripe plum notes. Rich toffee and caramel spices add complexity, while firm, structured tannins support the full-bodied richness. It is a compelling and layered expression of Oakville.
