What fabulous perfumed aromas of lavender, blackcurrants, graphite, tapenade and hints of sweet tobacco. So complex and sophisticated. Medium- to full-bodied with tannins that have an incredible finesse and length. It goes on for minutes. It’s all about elegance and class. There’s harmony and freshness for a dry year. Seductive and so long. 72% cabernet sauvignon, 23% carmenere, 4% cabernet franc and 1% petit verdot. Drinkable now, but one for the cellar. Drink from 2028. R27-1

Unctuous, rich and big for an Albarino, but incredibly delicious. It’s fresh and slightly tropical with a creamy mid-palate resulting from lees aging. Finishes smooth with a nice hint of saline.

  • Vincent Gaudry 2024 Sancerre Le Tournebride

Vincent Gaudry 2024 Sancerre Le Tournebride

    Price range: $59.99 through $576.00

    Loire Valley France
Coming from a relatively late vintage, this Sancerre is immediately distinguished by the sensation of freshness and purity it gives off. Barely opened, it releases subtle menthol notes between lemon balm, minty verbena and peppermint. Cilantro is not far away either, as is green tea. With aeration, it gains in aromatic amplitude, on a more greedy register of peach in syrup, juicy pear. Then come intense citrus aromas, allowing us to perceive a very accurate balance between the ripe fruit and the initial freshness. Menton lemon, grapefruit peel, clementine: the whole is accompanied by deeper, slightly lactic notes, reminiscent of fresh yoghurt or lassi. More iodized and saline shades reminiscent of sea spray and sea breezes now blow above the glass.

Coming from 60-year-old vines and brought up in 15% new oak, the 2017 Meursault Les Vieilles Vignes offers a solid bouquet of stone fruits and buttered citrus as well as green almonds and white flowers. Nicely textured, medium-bodied, and elegant on the palate, with a subtle sense of minerality on the finish, it's an outstanding, classy Meursault to enjoy over the coming 7-8 years or so. R36-2

Sporting a saturated purple color, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon VHR is a total blockbuster that spent 21 months in French oak. It knocks it out of the park with its Pauillac-like bouquet of blackcurrants, tobacco leaf, damp earth, lead pencil shavings, and cedarwood. Hitting the palate with a massive texture and full body, it’s a powerful, full throttle effort that has remarkable balance, ripe tannins, and an opulent, sexy texture that’s a joy to drink. Despite its flamboyant style, it’s perfectly balanced and is a sensational wine. Feel free to drink it any time over the coming 20-25 years. Bravo! SP31-2

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon rolls out of the glass with expressive scents of freshly crushed black cherries, warm cassis, and juicy blackberries followed by hints of menthol, dark chocolate, licorice, and cinnamon stick plus a fragrant waft of violets. The full-bodied palate is densely laden with vibrant black fruits and loads of baking spice sparks, framed by exquisitely ripe tannins and well-knit freshness, finishing very long and achingly perfumy. 946 cases were made. The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Cru Napa Valley spent 18 months in 65% new barrels, with the rest in once-used oak. Cassis, blueberries, tobacco, and smoky oak notes give way to a medium to full-bodied, nicely concentrated, textured 2021 with ripe yet firmer tannins, a terrific sense of freshness and purity, and outstanding balance. This classic, impeccably made Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is well worth seeking out and will evolve for 15+ years. BX-6
