  • Les Vins de Vienne 2018 Condrieu La Chambée

    $59.99

    Northern Rhone Valley France
For fans of the Viognier grapes, no appellation is better in my opinion than Condrieu. When allowed to express itself and not over burdened with oak, this is a gorgeous yet delicate wine. Light golden in color. The nose is so pretty with white flowers, quince and peach. On the palate, this dances across the tongue. It is delicious with the quince and peach coming thru along with underlying minerality. While this should drink well for another five years, this is a wine that rewards drinking young. R45-1

  • La Giaretta 2017 I Quadretti Amarone

    $59.99

    Veneto Italy
An intense ruby red color, a special body and a bouquet reminiscent of spices on this wine; nonetheless, the Amarone della Valpolicella “I Quadretti” retains the typical scent and flavor of cherry and wild berry.

  • Domaine Saint-Damien 2017 “Cuvée Clovis Saurel” Gigondas

    $59.99

    Southern Rhone Valley France
    Jeb Dunnuck 95 Rating
Another remarkable effort is the 2017 Gigondas Clovis Saurel, which is a single vineyard cuvée made from 100% Grenache. Rock star notes of kirsch and mulled dark fruits are intermixed with lots of sappy flowers and incense aromas and flavors. It's deep and full-bodied, with a wonderful sense of elegance and purity and ultra-fine tannins. It's going to benefit from a year or three of bottle age and cruise in cool cellars for 10-15 years. • Domaine Paul Autard 2017 Chateauneuf-du-Pape La Cote Ronde

    $59.99

    Southern Rhone Valley France
    Wine Spectator 94 Rating
Dark and winey, featuring lots of currant, fig and blackberry compote notes stuffed together, with hints of ganache, tobacco and roasted alder filling in around them. A warm earth accent runs through the finish, which exhibits grip and drive. Rock-solid. Best from 2022 through 2037. 750 cases made, 200 cases imported. R45-4

  • Long Shadows 2013 Pirouette

    $59.99

    Columbia Valley Washington
    Jeb Dunnuck 93 Rating
While a step back from the blockbuster 2012, Philippe Melka’s 2013 Pirouette is no slouch and offers serious amounts of ripe black cherry fruits, graphite, hints of chocolate and plenty of sweet oak in a beautifully concentrated, ripe, textured package. Made from 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 12% Petit Verdot and 5% Cabernet Franc (mostly from Red Mountain) that spent 22 months in 75% new French oak, give bottle 3-5 years in the cellar and enjoy over the following decade or more. • Clos i Terrasses Clos Erasmus 2017 Laurel

    $59.99

    Priorat, Spain
    Wine Advocate 95 Rating
The 2017 Laurel is a blend of the younger vines, some barrels that were declassified from Clos Erasmus and the remaining Cabernet Sauvignon, and in the low-yielding and dry 2017 vintage, it's 70% Garnacha, 20% Syrah and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, with 15% alcohol. The wine fermented mostly in concrete and oak vats with indigenous yeasts and matured in a combination of oak vats, concrete, used barriques and amphorae for 16 months. They produce this to be approachable from the moment it's released. The 2017s feel very aromatic, open, expressive and young, quite primary, tender and juicy and surprisingly fresh for a dry, warm year that resulted in a very early harvest. There is a peachy, soft, approachable quality here that I like very much. Surprisingly enough, winemaker and proprietor Daphne Glorian sees reminiscences of the 2013s in the 2017s, and I have to agree. SP35-8

  • Ceretto 2016 Barbaresco

    $59.99

    Piedmont Italy
    Wine Spectator 94 Rating
Bright cherry and strawberry fruit glides over a backbone of dusty tannins in this linear red. Balanced and harmonious, with a long aftertaste that shows floral, tobacco and spicy notes. Best from 2023 through 2043. SP44-2

  • Caterwaul 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon

    $59.99

    Napa Valley California
This vintage of Caterwaul expresses an impressive array of decadent fruit, exotic spice, and mouth-watering structure. In the glass, the wine exhibits a completely opaque, deep purple hue with a dark violet halo. Aromas swell from the glass in waves of black cherry, plum reduction, aromatic wood, eucalyptus, and pine bough. The palate is marked by a very sleek, polished mouthfeel. Complex notes of roasted meat, cassis, quince, macerated blackberry, and nutmeg are intricately layered, framed by a complimentary acidity. This wine offers a wealth of pure Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon character that is readily accessible today and should age well in the cellar for decades. R31-6
