Fresh caramel and chocolate aromas sit across crushed violets and blueberries. The palate has a very plush and fleshy core of blueberries and blackberries. A seductively fruited wine. Try from 2020.

Pronounced vanilla and full black cherries on the nose. Quite a generous, fleshy wine for this appellation in 2016. Rather soft tannins add a touch of warmth at the finish, balancing the cool acidity. Good length and harmony at the moderately dry finish. A blend of 70 per cent merlot and 30 per cent cabernet sauvignon.

The color is intense red. The discreet nose hints at a fine vintage. The attack is frank and generous, leaving an impression of freshly squeezed red fruits. The power of the tannins promises a wine with very good ageing potential.

One of the finest vintages I've ever tasted from this address, the 2018 Château Lynch-Bages has everything you look for in a great wine: incredible aromatics, richness without weight, perfect balance, and a purity of fruit that's just about off the charts. Dense purple, it reveals a glorious perfume of blackcurrants and blackberry fruits, a deep, unctuous mouthfeel, building tannins, and a complex array of cedar pencil, tobacco, wood smoke, and chocolate. A true blockbuster in every sense, with masses of fruit and tannins as well as moderate acidity, it will probably merit a triple-digit score in a decade and is a 50+-year wine from this team.

The 100% new wood shows in this wine's polished character, hints of mint and dark chocolate. It will develop into a super ripe and powerful, yet balanced wine. It's bold and full of fruit at this young stage, wait until 2022 before drinking.

The 2019 Minervois La Livinière Les Planels reveals a deep ruby purple color as well as a beautiful nose of ripe berries (black raspberries, blackberries), peppery garrigue, violets, iron, and a touch of chalky minerality. This ripe, medium to full-bodied, seamless Syrah (there’s a splash of Grenache) has silky tannins, remarkable purity, and outstanding length. It benefits from a short decant and is a brilliant Minervois that will evolve for a solid decade.

Flowers, lemon rind, spearmint and honeysuckle notes are all over the place. Fresh, forward, fruity and with a creamy, yellow, citrus rind finish, with just a drizzle of honey, you can enjoy this on release. Drink from 2022-2028.

  • Chateau Maucoil 2018 Chateauneuf Du Pape Privilege

    $59.99$600.00

    Jeb Dunnuck 92 Rating
The 2018 Châteauneuf Du Pape Privilege was also all destemmed and checks in as 50% Grenache, 15% Syrah, 12% Mourvèdre, and the balance Cinsault, Bourboulenc, Clairette, and other permitted varieties. Brought up in 30% new barrels, its similarly deep ruby/purple color is followed by classic notes of smoked black fruits, ground pepper, garrigue, violets, and rocky minerality. Despite the new oak, it has a relatively classic style, both in its aromas and flavors. Medium to full-bodied, it offers solid mid-palate depth, building tannins, and a great finish. This is another terrific, outstanding wine from this estate that’s going to have a long life. It can be drunk today with plenty of pleasure or cellared for 10-12+ years or more.
