Château Lyonnat 2016 Emotion Lussac Saint-Émilion
$24.99 – $252.00Bordeaux France
Wine Enthusiast 93 Rating
Produced from old Merlot vines and aged in 100% new wood, this is a powerful wine. It works impressively despite the heavy, mint and toast woodiness because the black fruit is so rich and concentrated.

This decadent blend of Bordeaux varieties displays punchy aromas of spiced cherry, blackberry and mint on the nose, while the palate brings layers of blackberry, currant and dark chocolate flavors in a rich framework of barrel spice that will soften nicely in the cellar.

Ridge Vineyards 2023 Three Valleys Red
$23.99 – $252.00Sonoma County California
Jeb Dunnuck 93 Rating
Made since 2001 from a number of Sonoma County vineyards, the 2023 Three Valleys blends 71% Zinfandel, 16% Carignane, 9% Petite Sirah, 2% each Mataro and Alicante Bouschet from Alexander Valley, Dry Creek Valley, Sonoma Valley, and Russian River Valley. Floral, it is complex and less rustic than usual, the vintage showing classic charm and elegance. Though it is one of Ridge’s largest production wines, it is made in the exact same way as all its others, in open top tanks with real oak and native fermentations. It’s meant to represent a vintage more than a location. A popular by-the-glass pour, order it when you see it.

Ridge Vineyards 2022 Pagani Ranch Zinfandel
$49.99 – $252.00Sonoma Valley California
Wine Advocate 94 Rating
The 2022 Zinfandel Pagani Ranch is a blend of 82% Zinfandel, 9% Alicante Bouschet, 5% Petite Sirah and 4% Mataro. It has layered scents of blueberry preserves, yellow peach, toasted coconut and floral perfume. The palate combines generous, layered, fragrant flavors with silky tannins and bursts of mouthwatering acidity, and it has a long, expressive finish.” -Erin Brooks (September 2024)

Barbanera Chieteno Toscana
$24.99 – $252.00Tuscany Italy
The Barbanera Chieteno pays homage to Tuscan traditions. The exceptional talent captivates the connoisseur with its soft and supple texture. Its taste scores with juicy aromas of cherry, forest berry and some vanilla. The balsamic sounds blend perfectly with the vanilla. A true spectacle is also the dense and deep red color, which gently transforms into the violet. A unique taste experience awaits you.

Brand Winery 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon
$249.99Napa Valley California
Wine Advocate 96+ Rating
Camphor, cedar, cassis and blackberries all appear on the nose of the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon, a massively concentrated yet vibrant offering. It’s full-bodied and intense, velvety and rich, but it shows ample energy and thrust on the finish. If there’s a complaint, it’s that it’s too monolithic, but I’d chalk that up to its youth at this stage and expect it to gain complexity as it ages for two decades or more. R37-3 -

Saxum Vineyards 2021 Hexe
$249.99Willow Creek District Paso Robles California
Jeb Dunnuck 98+ Rating
A clear step up over the 2020 of this cuvée, the 2021 Hexe is up there with the 2016 and 2018. Coming from a south-facing parcel in the James Berry Vineyard (there’s a kiss of G2 fruit) and based on 40% Grenache, 19% Graciano, and the rest Syrah, Mataro, and Petite Sirah, it sports a dense purple hue as well as awesome levels of red and black fruits, peppery herbs, sandalwood, loamy earth, and leather. I love its overall complexity, and it’s full-bodied, with a multi-dimensional mouthfeel, lots of structure, and a blockbuster of a finish. Hide bottles for 4-5 years, count yourself lucky, and enjoy over the following 15-20 years. SP21-6
