The 2024 Santa Margherita “Eterna” White Blend is a premium, highly expressive cuvée from the estate, stepping away from their monolithic, everyday Pinot Grigio to showcase the complex, alpine terroir of Alto Adige. This flagship white is an aromatic blend crafted primarily from Pinot Grigio, layered with Chardonnay, Pinot Bianco, and a highly aromatic lift of Müller-Thurgau, all hand-harvested at peak ripeness from select high-altitude vineyards. In the glass, it shows a star-bright lemon color with golden reflections. The nose is incredibly vivid, broad, and layered, opening with a burst of fresh grapefruit, lemon peel, and bergamot, beautifully woven into riper notes of white peach, pear, and subtle tropical undertones. The 2019 Syrah TBD is also magical stuff. Mostly destemmed (there are 25% stems) and aging in 70% new French oak (mostly from Bien Nacido), its deep purple color is followed by incredibly pure crème de cassis and blackberry fruits that give way to more peppery, meaty, spicy notes with time in the glass. Full-bodied, concentrated, yet also flawlessly balanced, it has plenty of tannins and a great finish. My instincts say 2-4 years of bottle age are going to beneficial, but this is brilliant. SP18-1

I was able to taste both the 2019 Grenache and Syrah from barrel, both showing beautifully. The 2019 Grenache TBD is slightly more fruit-forward with lots of red and blue fruits as well as sappy flower and violet notes. A finesse-driven Grenache that still brings serious richness and power, it's full-bodied and has silky tannins, terrific balance, and a sensational sense of freshness. R1-2 SP18-1
