Coming from two sites on Howell Mountain, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain is a brilliant effort that readers should jump on if given the chance. Classic mountain aromatics of black fruits, tobacco, chocolate, and mineral-like nuances define the bouquet, and it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, a layered mouthfeel, plenty of tannins, and a great finish. The balance is terrific, and this will benefit from just a few years of bottle age and should have 20-25 years of overall longevity. R37-1 -

It’s a full-bodied, concentrated, powerful Mountain Cabernet revealing ample smoked black fruits, notes of graphite, tobacco, spicy wood, and bouquet garni, a dense, layered mid-palate, building tannins, and a gorgeous overall profile that will benefit from 4-5 years of bottle age. The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Regusci Vineyard is a powerful, dense wine. Inky dark fruit, crème de cassis, chocolate, spice, licorice and lavender infuse the 2018 with tons of richness. Tasted next to the Cemetery, the Regusci is a bit more overt and opulent in style, with ripeness pushed to the max. The 2018 turns up the dial on everything; fruit intensity, acid and tannin. This vintage of Caterwaul expresses an impressive array of decadent fruit, exotic spice, and mouth-watering structure. In the glass, the wine exhibits a completely opaque, deep purple hue with a dark violet halo.
