Chateau Trotte Vieille 2020 Red Blend St Emilion Premier Grand Cru Classe
$129.99 – $1,200.00Bordeaux France
Jeb Dunnuck 98 Rating
The 2020 Château Trotte Vieille has closed down since I tasted it as a barrel sample in 2021 and needs lots of air, but this is an incredibly gorgeous wine. Its dense purple hue is followed by powerful, inward bouquet of ripe, incredibly pure black and blue fruits, smoky oak, tons of minerality, and a kiss of violets that takes lots of air to shine. The palate is similar in style, with a concentrated, focused, almost austere edge that carries beautiful tannins, awesome extract, flawless overall balance, and a great finish. While it’s unquestionably a brilliant wine, it’s not for those looking for instant gratification and is much more reserved than the 2019 at this stage.

Chateau Vignelaure 2024 Rose Coteaux d’Aix en Provence

The nose of this wine smells like strawberries and cream with hints of peach and sea shells. The palate shows great balance between the strawberry-vanilla flavor and the citrus-pith bitterness, the soaring acidity also lifts up this refreshing rose.

Chateau Vitallis 2022 Pouilly-Fuisse

With bright apple and citrus notes, the long creamy finish and gorgeous minerality reveal the true white Burgundy pedigree of this wine. Coming from older vineyard directly across the 13th-century ancestral Chateau. There’s plenty of mouthwatering white peach, lemon, and white flowers, with an alluring combination of freshness and rich creamy texture, culminating in a lengthy finish.

A perfumed wine with black-fruit flavors, this is already well balanced. Dark flavors are spiced and packed with a fresher aftertaste. Drink from 2023.

A powerhouse of a wine that flirts with perfection, the 2019 Hermitage reveals a dense purple hue as well as an extraordinary bouquet of sweet blue fruits supported by notes of crushed stone, lead pencil, leather, and ground pepper, with hints of flowers in the background. Full-bodied, stunningly pure, and massively concentrated, yet with riveting precision and elegance, it needs to be hidden in the back of the cellar for a decade and will evolve for 30, 40, if not 50 years. Tasting the trilogy of the 2018, 2019, and 2020 over the coming decades will be the equivalent of wine nirvana. SP39-9 -
Claude Riffault 2023 ‘Les Boucauds’ Sancerre
$39.99 – $420.00Loire Valley France
From a top parcel in Sury-en-Vaux. The 2023 version of Les Boucauds is a blend of both Burgundy barrels (several from Etienne Sauzet in Puligny-Montrachet) and larger oak. Because of the deep clay and limestone soils, Les Boucauds always has great mouthfeel and depth, as opposed to Stephane’s silex and caillottes parcels which are more linear and austere in their youth.

The 2020 Clos Du Roy offers up a pure, beautifully clean bouquet of ripe black cherries, plums, tobacco, and cedary spices. This carries to a medium to full-bodied Fronsac with a balanced, layered mouthfeel, nicely integrated acidity, and a great finish. It’s a stunning Fronsac to enjoy over the coming 10-15 years. SP51-6
