Domaine Paul Autard 2017 Chateauneuf-du-Pape La Cote Ronde
$59.99Southern Rhone Valley France
Wine Spectator 94 Rating
Dark and winey, featuring lots of currant, fig and blackberry compote notes stuffed together, with hints of ganache, tobacco and roasted alder filling in around them. A warm earth accent runs through the finish, which exhibits grip and drive. Rock-solid. Best from 2022 through 2037. 750 cases made, 200 cases imported. R45-4 -
Domaine Rapet Père et Fils 2017 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru
$249.99Burgundy France
Wine Advocate 95 Rating
With the 2017 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru, Rapet has produced his finest white since 2014. The wine opens in the glass with a classy nose of ripe lemons, green apple, white flowers and crushed chalk, framed by subtle hints of oatmeal and beeswax. On the palate, it's full-bodied, deep and layered, with excellent concentration and broad shoulders, but also promising structural tension and reserve. The long, chalky finish is penetrating and intense. This is well worth seeking out. R22-3 -

The stunning 2021 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Imperiale comes from old vines in two sandy parcels—one in Pied Long and one in la Crau. Exotic aromas of orange zest, Campari-like spice and exquisitely ripe cherries appear on the nose, while the full-bodied palate is silky and creamy in texture yet airy and vibrant, with a long, zesty finish. It’s a definite candidate for wine of the vintage, alongside its Mourvèdre-based stablemate, La Part des Anges. Drink: 2025-2040. SP33-6

Domaine Saint-Damien 2017 “Cuvée Clovis Saurel” Gigondas
$59.99Southern Rhone Valley France
Jeb Dunnuck 95 Rating
Another remarkable effort is the 2017 Gigondas Clovis Saurel, which is a single vineyard cuvée made from 100% Grenache. Rock star notes of kirsch and mulled dark fruits are intermixed with lots of sappy flowers and incense aromas and flavors. It's deep and full-bodied, with a wonderful sense of elegance and purity and ultra-fine tannins. It's going to benefit from a year or three of bottle age and cruise in cool cellars for 10-15 years. Domaine Tour Saint Michel 2019 Cuvee des Deux Soeurs Chateauneuf du Pape
$34.99 – $180.00Southern Rhone Valley France
Wine Enthusiast 94 Rating
Notes of sun-drenched black cherry and strawberry preserves are sonorous in this fruit-forward, piercing blend of 90% Grenache and 10% Syrah. It highlights all of Grenache’s red-fruited delights and soft, pillowy tannins along with a twist of Syrah’s peppery, brambly spice. Delightful young, it should maintain peak through 2030 at least.
