The nose of this wine smells like strawberries and cream with hints of peach and sea shells. The palate shows great balance between the strawberry-vanilla flavor and the citrus-pith bitterness, the soaring acidity also lifts up this refreshing rose.

The 2023 vintage of Pouilly-Fuissé ‘Vieilles Vignes’ is notable for its bright yellow-gold hue with green highlights. On the nose, it is intense and complex, with intermingling notes of cumin, pear, grilled hazelnuts and white flowers.

A perfumed wine with black-fruit flavors, this is already well balanced. Dark flavors are spiced and packed with a fresher aftertaste. Drink from 2023.

A powerhouse of a wine that flirts with perfection, the 2019 Hermitage reveals a dense purple hue as well as an extraordinary bouquet of sweet blue fruits supported by notes of crushed stone, lead pencil, leather, and ground pepper, with hints of flowers in the background. Full-bodied, stunningly pure, and massively concentrated, yet with riveting precision and elegance, it needs to be hidden in the back of the cellar for a decade and will evolve for 30, 40, if not 50 years. Tasting the trilogy of the 2018, 2019, and 2020 over the coming decades will be the equivalent of wine nirvana. SP39-9

Another incredible white from this family is the 2019 Hermitage Blanc, a powerful, concentrated, and remarkably pure Hermitage that has laser-like focus as well as textbook Marsanne notes of quince, green almond, powdered rock, licorice, and spice. It’s still tight, focused, and inward at present, yet it reminds me of the 2018 with its purity and rare mix of power and elegance. It’s worth trying a bottle any time over the coming 3-5 years, but after that, I’d recommend waiting until after 2031. R43-1

This offers a drop-dead gorgeous core of cassis and raspberry pâte de fruit flavors that hold center stage but still allow notes of Lapsang souchong tea, anise, incense and shiso leaf to chime in. Very long, with a sublime feel through the mineral-tinged finish. So seductive already, but this should cruise in the cellar. Drink now through 2040. 6,000 cases made, 850 cases imported. SP36-1

The 2020 Clos Du Roy offers up a pure, beautifully clean bouquet of ripe black cherries, plums, tobacco, and cedary spices. This carries to a medium to full-bodied Fronsac with a balanced, layered mouthfeel, nicely integrated acidity, and a great finish. It’s a stunning Fronsac to enjoy over the coming 10-15 years. SP51-4

I always love this white, and the 2021 Châteauneuf Du Pape Blanc Clos Roquete Blanc is no exception. Pure, clean, and elegant, with medium-bodied aromas and flavors of ripe lemon, honeysuckle, and white flowers, it has a pretty, seamless, impeccably balanced profile and is already impossible to resist. Intense and aromatic, with so much texture to it. Notes of dried lemons, dried herbs, pears, blanched almonds and anise. Full-bodied with a well-rounded, suave and ample development on the palate. Plenty of dried herb character and vibrant spices. Creamy but agile. Drink or hold.
