Saint-Damien 2022 Vacqueyras
Price range: $29.99 through $150.00Southern Rhone Valley France
Jeb Dunnuck 92 Rating
The first Vacqueyras I’ve tasted from this brilliant Gigondas estate, the 2022 Vacqueyras has pure red and black fruits as well as textbook spicy herbs, pepper, and savory flower aromas and flavors. It’s concentrated, medium to full-bodied, has plenty of mid-palate depth, and outstanding length. I’d happily be a buyer. SP36-6

St. Cosme 2023 Côtes du Rhône
Price range: $16.99 through $180.00Southern Rhone Valley France
Wine Spectator 90 Rating
There’s a pure core of fresh blackberry, crunchy plum and violet in this vibrant version, with the subtlest brushing of vanilla. Layers of graphite and fine-grained tannins provide a solid framework. Compact, with savory details emerging toward the solid, medium-bodied finish, which is grounded in salty mineral notes and a waft of alder smoke.

Stephane Ogier 2022 Condrieu La Combe de Malleval
Price range: $69.99 through $378.00Northern Rhone Valley France
Jeb Dunnuck 96 Rating
The earliest harvest ever at Condrieu for Stephane, the 2022 Condrieu La Combe De Malleval offers a gorgeous perfume of white peach, orange blossom, white flowers, and a terrific sense of minerality. Balanced, medium to full-bodied, lively, and elegant, it’s an absolutely incredible Viognier that’s as good as anything in the vintage. R35-2

Symposium 2022 Bordeaux Supérieur
Price range: $15.99 through $84.00Bordeaux France
Enjoyabilityfactor 90 Rating
The soil of the vines is silicate and clay with pebbles in the subsoil. The vines are at least 25 years old. The grapes are selected at the sorting table with 100% destemming. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature between 28 and 30°C for 8 to 10 days, followed by an additional maceration of approximately 25 days, and malolactic fermentation. The wine is then aged for 6 months in oak barrels, 50% in new barriques and 50% in used barriques. The Symposium is deep dark. On the nose, it offers abundant fruit and a richness of fresh red berries such as cherries, some plums, and blackberries, with a light spiciness. The palate is flattering, maintaining the pronounced fruit at the forefront. But the Bordeaux freshness and the tannins are noticeable and very well integrated. A blend of 60% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Malbec.

Fantastic complexity here with aromas of toast, biscuit, lemon, almond, chalk and some fennel. It’s long, sleek and mineral, with tight, very fine bubbles and so much tension and precision. Very long and chalky finish. -

Trimbach 2018 Gewurztraminer
Price range: $29.99 through $156.00Alsace France
Wine Enthusiast 92 Rating
Both flinty reduction and rose notes play on the nose. The palate comes in with concentration and a pithy, phenolic texture that lends structure and backbone to this rich, rounded, almost oily but dry wine. Pleasant citrus-pith bitterness sits well with the bold, warm but dry generosity. It’s best to let this come into its own. Drink 2025–2035.
