  • Francois Cazin 2022 Cour-Cheverny Blanc

    Francois Cazin 2022 Cour-Cheverny Blanc

    Price range: $19.99 through $204.00

    Loire Valley France
Waxy and aromatic, but also electric and dry, this shows the wild and arresting possibilities of Romorantin, one of the less-encountered grapes of the Loire. Notes of flowers, citrus on the nose then orchard fruits, herbs and chalk on the palate, which builds with acidity towards the finish. Unique!

  • Francois Cazin 2024 Le Petit Chambord Cheverny Blanc

Francois Cazin 2024 Le Petit Chambord Cheverny Blanc

    Price range: $19.99 through $204.00

    Loire Valley France
The 2024 Cheverny Blanc from François Cazin is made from grapes that are organically farmed and hand-harvested. The 2024 version is crafted from its customary blend of eighty percent sauvignon blanc and twenty percent chardonnay, with the two grapes fermented together and aged in stainless steel and older oak foudres. The wine comes in at twelve percent octane and delivers a vibrant and lovely bouquet of gooseberry, fresh lime, green apple, chalky soil tones, fresh-cut grass and a top note of orange peel. On the palate the wine is deep, bright and full-bodied, with a succulent core of fruit, beautiful soil signature and grip, zesty acids and seamless balance on the long, complex and very precise finish. This may well be the best Cheverny Blanc I have ever tasted!.

There is enough reduction present to blur the underlying fruit. More interesting are the sleek, intense and delicious middle weight flavors that exude a subtle minerality onto the lingering and moderately refined finale. This is a quality Chambolle villages and worth checking out. SP3-1

  • Gerard Raphet 2018 Clos de la Roche Grand Cru

Gerard Raphet 2018 Clos de la Roche Grand Cru

    $249.99

    Burgundy France
Here too there is just enough wood to remark upon serving as a backdrop for the more deeply pitched aromas of plum, dark raspberry and warm earth scents. This dusty and delicious effort should also reward up to a decade of cellaring. The palate is full-bodied there’s no arguing otherwise and unfolds with dense, concentrated layers of dark berry liqueur and crushed minerals. Even with such a luxurious, palate-coating mouthfeel, it never loses sight of its blue-blooded Burgundian identity. One for the Burgundy purists. SP4-4

  • Gerard Raphet 2019 Morey Saint Denis

Gerard Raphet 2019 Morey Saint Denis

    $89.99

    Burgundy France
The wines of Gérard Raphet are a Burgundy lover’s Burgundy. While the wine’s color in the glass is a delicate ruby, aromas and flavors surprise with their forceful intensity. This contrast often catches the uninitiated off guard, yet it is part of the attraction and seduction of these limited and highly sought-after wines. SP3-3

Dark cherry, pomegranates, iron, damp earth, and baking space. The wine was darker than the previous vintage in the glass, but with a brighter finish. Smile-educing. SP3-6
