  • Guado al Tasso 2016 Bolgheri Superiore

    $159.99

    Tuscany Italy
    James Suckling 98 Rating
Beautiful center palate of fruit here with ripe and silky tannins that are resolved and fine-grained. Full-bodied, polished and ever so refined. Oyster shell, stone and hints of rosemary and lavender. Driven finish. Better after 2022. R39-1

  • Guado al Tasso 2019 Bolgheri Superiore

    $139.99

    Tuscany Italy
    James Suckling 98 Rating
This has a wild and perfumed nose of dried thyme, sage, blackberries, cocoa, graphite and white and green peppercorns. Then dried flowers. Full-bodied with firm, tight and precise tannins. Vibrant. There’s so much character and structure. A new benchmark for this winery. More cabernet franc than in the past. Best yet? 65% cabernet sauvignon, 25% cabernet franc and 10% merlot. Try from 2025. R39-3

  • Guado al Tasso 2020 Bolgheri Superiore

    $129.99

    Tuscany Italy
    Wine Advocate 96 Rating
The Marchesi Antinori 2020 Bolgheri Superiore Guado al Tasso sees Cabernet Franc at over 30% of the blend in this vintage, with the rest going to Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% to 20% to Merlot. Matarocchio was not produced this year, and this wine benefits from the extra Cabernet Franc as a result. The 2019 and 2021 vintages of Guado al Tasso are quite concentrated and rich, whereas 2020 is leaner in texture, along the lines of the edition we saw made in 2010. There was rain in September. Managing Director Renzo Cotarella says he would not describe 2020 as a hot vintage because the rain did pose challenges at the end of the growing season. In Bolgheri on the Tuscan coast, budbreak is earlier than in other appellations, and the growing season is longer as a result. This is a benefit to the international varieties used here. The wine shows nice richness and intensity. The Cabernet Franc definitely comes through and adds the characteristic vertical lift and linearity that the grape is known for. You get black fruit, spice, white pepper and no signs of bitter stems or bramble. Sweet, almost milky tannins are interlocked with fresh acidity to give this wine good cellaring potential. The new oak was dialed back a bit in this vintage. SP48-5

  • Guado al Tasso 2024 iL Bruciato

    $29.99$276.00

    Tuscany Italy
The 2024 Il Bruciato shows an intense ruby red color. The nose presents the notes of red and black berry fruit which are characteristic of this vintage and capable of giving the wine an excellent concentration. Sweet spices and a hint of liquorice complete the bouquet. The palate is well structured, persistent, and highly pleasurable in its fruity finish and aftertaste.

  • Gurrieri 2024 Terre Siciliane Frappato

    $29.99$150.00

    Sicily Italy
Frappato is a surprising grape. Sicilian wine is not supposed to be bright, crunchy, and zesty like this one. It is certainly not supposed to clock in at a cool 12.5% alcohol; not even Etna Rosso, grown at thousands of feet above sea level, does that. Yet here Frappato is, a juicy and delicious counterpoint to Nero d’Avola, and an increasingly popular alternative for grape growers and wine drinkers alike. The Gurrieri family grows their Frappato on the southern coast, dedicated to organic practices. This latest vintage offers a fresh blast of raspberry, strawberry, and smoked orange peel on the nose. The palate is crunchy and crisp, and tastes of the raspberries that fall off the bush when you try to pick them and a dusting of black pepper. As you work your way through the glass, light chalky tannins build up on the finish, something to chew on while you eat fresh pasta, fried calamari, or margarita pizza.

  • I Greppi 2021 Greppicaia Bolgheri Superiore

    $69.99$360.00

    Tuscany Italy
    Decanter 94 Rating
The 2021 Greppicaia includes a hefty dose of Petit Verdot, which lends richness and spice to the mix. Bold aromas of fresh red berries and some dried cherry introduce an intense and concentrated palate where the wood is currently in the front seat and the tannins have an overt, powdery texture. Creamy and peppery, there is nevertheless some succulent fruit lurking in the background and with time will emerge – the potential is certainly there in its long, fresh character and poised posture. Owned by Irish geologist, Dr Neil McMahon and his family since 2017, I Greppi has benefitted from his scientific approach, which includes a joint long-term research project with University of California, UC Davis, who also helped with the development of an on-site ’eno lab’…” 09/24 R23-1

  • I Greppi 2022 Greppicaia Bolgheri Superiore

    $59.99$300.00

    Tuscany Italy
    Jeb Dunnuck 96 Rating
A highly luxurious style, the 2022 Greppicaia pours a dark purple/red color and is very pronounced and saturated with layered oak spice, toasted vanilla, cedar, boysenberry, plum, cigar box, and polished leather. While the oak is quite forward, this is a wine of high quality, with a bright spine of ripe acidity to balance it out and a full-bodied, broad-shouldered and well-defined, ripe texture that doesn’t feel weighted. It has a very long, salty finish with bright redcurrant fruit lasting long on the palate. I can’t help but be impressed here, although it’s going to need several years in a cellar and is built for the long haul. Most stores $79.99

  • I Vignaioli di Santo Stefano 2023 Moscato d’Asti

    $19.99$102.00

    Piedmont Italy
This classic Moscato d’Asti makes for an excellence aperitif or dessert wine. Lightly sparkling, it is a pretty pale yellow in color, intensely fruity, aromatic and lingering. The sweetness is in balance with the low alcohol (5%) and acidity that gives this wine a pleasant freshness. It is vinified exclusively in steel tanks. While this makes for an exquisite cocktail, it also pairs really well with roasted hazelnuts or fruit tarts.
