James Suckling 97 Rating
Intense aromas of black fruit, cocoa powder, black olives, dried violets, tar and cigar box. Some black peppercorn, too. It’s full-bodied with firm, chalky tannins. Incredible intensity and purity of fruit with gorgeous breadth and depth. Superb, new-wave Napa red. 80% cabernet sauvignon, the rest mostly Cabernet Franc with a hit of Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2023. 3,170 cases made. SP25-1 -
Robert Mondavi 2013 Oakville BDX Red
$59.99Napa Valley California
A concentration of black cherry, vanilla and sweet spice form the backbone of this intensely dark-fruited, structured wine, with a subtle layer of earthy garrigue (fragrant dried brush of southern France) adding complexity to the full, creamy palate. Focused and harmonious, this is a powerful expression of Oakville in a Bordeaux blend. R29-2 -

Stunning concentration of perfectly ripe blackcurrants here with a delicate whiff of vanilla oak and extremely fine tannins that are almost perfectly integrated on the seductive and delicate palate, right through the almost literally breathtaking, super-long and very polished finish. A hedonistically, opulent expression of Cabernet Sauvignon from Coombsville. Juicy ripe blackberries, black currants, crushed granite and honeyed black raspberries sing from the glass. Notes of black cardamom, freshly picked violets, graphite and chaparral complete the aromatic landscape of this wine. Savory, balanced and amazingly concentrated; this wine possesses explosive flavors of black and purple fruits pinned together with incredible minerality. Enjoy over the next 20 years or more. R42-3

James Suckling 97 Rating
Open and aromatic with honeysuckle flowers, dried apples and mangoes, as well as white peaches and stone. Full-bodied, this grows slowly on the palate with an intense, powerful finish. Lots of cream, cooked apples, lemons and light oak at the very end. Tight and right. Try after 2023. R22-2 -
Long Shadows 2018 Feather Cabernet Sauvignon
$64.99Columbia Valley Washington
Jeb Dunnuck 98 Rating
The classic 2018 Feather (100% Cabernet Sauvignon) comes from the Weinbau and Wallula Vineyards and spent 22 months in 90% new French oak. It has a wonderfully pure nose of crème de cassis, new saddle leather, dried flowers, and tobacco that carries to a medium to full-bodied, seamless Cabernet with a wonderful sense of purity, balance, and elegance, all while bringing plenty of fruit and structure. I actually like it today, yet it has enough tannins to benefit from 2-4 years of bottle age and should be long lived. R40-7 SP29-6 -
Clos de los Siete 2021 Red by Michel Rolland

Vinous 92 Rating
The 2021 Red Blend comes from Campo de los Andes in the Uco Valley. It is a blend of 55% Malbec, 16% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Syrah, 3% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot, 70% aged in a third new oak barrels with the remainder going into steel tanks. A rich purple in hue. The nose presents a complex array of aromas ranging from plum and blackberry to violets, ash and oak. It’s dry and juicy on the palate, with refined tannins and well-balanced acidity. Concentrated and long-lasting, the cool vintage brought an extra dimension.

The 2022 Syrah is one of the best wines in this range this year. Dark and enveloping, the 2022 offers notable depth to match its juicy yet not overdone style. Black cherry, plum, leather, spice, menthol and a touch of black pepper all build in the glass.

Domaine Della 2018 Pinot Noir
$69.99Santa Lucia Highlands California

Located south of Monterey, the Santa Lucia Highlands is a great AVA that produces an amazing amount of outstanding Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Syrahs. Starting with the appellation 2018 Pinot Noir Santa Lucia Highlands, it comes all from the Soberanes Vineyard (in the relative center/southern end of the appellation) and spent 15 months in 47% new French oak. This beautiful, elegant, complex wine displays the fruit-loaded style of the appellation yet stays balanced, nicely textured, and even elegant. Black cherries, black raspberries, leafy herbs, a touch of flowers, and some earthy/forest floor notes all emerge from the glass, and it hits the palate with a soft, supple texture, again, terrific balance, and a great finish. It's slightly less expensive than the single vineyard, but I think it’s just as good. SP1-2
