Antica Terra 2017 Botanica Pinot Noir
$169.99Willamette Valley Oregon
Botanica is an expression of the fecundity and fertility of the flora of this place. It tends towards sappy, sanguine, with a taste of wild rose, sour cherries, and blood orange. It is tempting to define it solely by its compelling texture and lush personality, but there is a structural element that is equally striking. This balance between extraordinary concentration and pronounced tension is the essence of the wine. R45-1 -

Wine Enthusiast 93 Rating
Coming from Gualtallary, one of the top subregions in Uco Valley, this red starts with aromas of dried herbs, and peppercorn followed by pomegranate. It has a savory palate, where flavors of thyme and rosemary are followed by dark-chocolate shavings and prunes.

Deep blackberry, cassis, prune, vanilla and graphite aromas open this powerfully built Malbec that’s fully saturated and fully oaked. Toasty blackberry flavors are distinctly chocolaty on the back side. The wine tastes of black licorice, café mocha and black pepper on the finish. Drink 2023–2030. R30-3 -
Antinori 2015 Pian delle Vigne Brunello di Montalcino
$73.99Tuscany Italy
James Suckling 94 Rating
Quite reductive and earthy, but opens to show tidy cranberries and glazed red cherries. Hints of citrus and spice. Full-bodied and rich, but there’s savory edge to the plush, juicy tannins, and lots of weight and density. Drink from 2024. SP49-4 -
Antinori 2020 Solaia
$399.99 – $2,100.00Tuscany Italy
Antonio Galloni 97 Rating
The 2020 Solaia is an infant. I expected a more exuberant wine, but the 2020 is built along more classic lines. Black cherry, plum, gravel, incense, smoke, pencil shavings and spice all open effortlessly. As always, Solaia is a Cabernet Sauvignon-based wine, but it is a Cabernet that is distinctly Italian, with plenty of Tuscan acid and structure driving through the mid-palate and into the finish. The 2020 is a terrific example of the recent stylistic shift at Antinori. In the past, richness and opulence were qualities of a vintage that would have been amplified in the vineyard and cellar. Today, the aim is to capture a more balanced expression of these kinds of vintages, and that very much comes through. SPBX-6

Antinori 2021 Guado al Tasso Bolgheri Superiore
$159.99 – $840.00Bolgheri Italy
Antonio Galloni 98 Rating
The 2021 Bolgheri Superiore Guado al Tasso is a very beautiful wine, but also quite a departure from the style that made it famous years ago. Readers will find an especially polished Guado al Tasso, a wine that emphasizes finesse more than power. Silky tannins wrap around a core of black cherry fruit, licorice, spice, mocha and new leather. Bright, saline undertones extend the exquisite finish. There’s more Cabernet Franc in the blend these days, and that very much comes through in the wine’s crazy aromatic presence and feel. The 2021 spent 16 months in wood, three months in used French oak barrels during the malolactic fermentation and then 14 months in barrel (80% new) for the rest of its aging. Gorgeous.

Antinori 2021 Tignanello
$159.99Tuscany Italy
Wine Spectator 97 Rating
The currants and spices are very pretty, with some hazelnut undertones. Medium- to full-bodied with juicy tannins and a flavorful finish. Very structured for a Tignanello, with medium chewy tannins and a flavorful finish. Very polished and curated with a deft winemaking hand coming through. Needs three or four years to soften, but it’s all there. BX-6 SP43-7 -
Antinori 2022 Cervaro della Sala
$74.99 – $378.00Umbria Italy
Cervaro della Sala” by Antinori has a graceful appearance with straw yellow tones, with youthful greenish reflections. The nose is complex, variegated on intense hints of citrus peel and candied orange, notes of acacia flowers and spicy nuances of vanilla, within a frame that refers to a certain underlying minerality. The sip is broad and soft, the palate rich in saline sensations that blend with hints of buttery pastry and an evident toasted hazelnut. It can surprisingly marry plateaus of sea urchins and bulot, or face a mustard poulet de Bresse.

Antinori 2022 Guado al Tasso Bolgheri Superiore
$139.99 – $810.00Bolgheri Italy
Jeb Dunnuck 96 Rating
The 2022 Guado Al Tasso has a saturated purple/magenta color and is 44% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Merlot. The nose shows off ripe primary fruit of fresh blueberries, blackberries, leather, violets, wet stone, and Mediterranean herbs. Full-bodied, it fills the palate but remains fresh and even, with plush, ripe tannins, delicate warming spice, and a long finish. While it has the richness and ripe fruit one comes to expect from this estate, it offers exceptional refinement as well. Drink 2027-2050.
