Booker Vineyard 2021 Oublie Red Blend Paso Robles

    Price range: $79.99 through $438.00

    California
    Jeb Dunnuck 96 Rating
The 2021 Oublié from this great estate checks in as a blend of 41% Grenache, 31% Syrah, 27% Mourvèdre, and a splash of Tannat. This straight-up seamless beauty offers a killer array of darker berry fruits, peppery herbs, licorice, and underbrush to go with a medium to full-bodied, beautifully layered, seamless style on the palate that’s hard to resist. The balance is spot on, and it has fine tannins as well as a great finish. I’d be thrilled to drink a bottle any time over the coming 7-8 years and certainly wouldn’t be surprised to see it evolve longer.

  • Gerard Raphet 2018 Clos de la Roche Grand Cru

Gerard Raphet 2018 Clos de la Roche Grand Cru

    $249.99

    Burgundy France
Here too there is just enough wood to remark upon serving as a backdrop for the more deeply pitched aromas of plum, dark raspberry and warm earth scents. This dusty and delicious effort should also reward up to a decade of cellaring. The palate is full-bodied there’s no arguing otherwise and unfolds with dense, concentrated layers of dark berry liqueur and crushed minerals. Even with such a luxurious, palate-coating mouthfeel, it never loses sight of its blue-blooded Burgundian identity. One for the Burgundy purists. SP4-4

    Jeb Dunnuck 98 Rating
Another magical wine, the 2018 Fracture is based on 100% Syrah brought up in new and used French oak. Deep purple-hued, with beautiful notes of crème de cassis, blackberries, vanilla bean, toasted spices, white flowers, and a hints of charcuterie, this beauty hits the palate with full-bodied richness, perfectly integrated oak, a rounded, lush mouthfeel, and a great finish. This unabashedly Paso Robles Syrah brings loads of fruit yet stays balanced, elegant, and is simply a thrill to drink. SP16-5

Aromas of raspberries, cherries, sweet spices, raw cocoa and peonies preface the 2020 Beaune 1er Cru Clos de l'Écu Monopole, a medium to full-bodied, concentrated and vibrant wine with tangy acids, melting tannins and a long, saline finish. This is very promising. SP3-6

    $49.99

    Columbia Valley
    Wine Enthusiast 93 Rating
Aromas of black fruit, anise, vanilla, cocoa and other barrel spices are followed by pitch-black, rich, hedonistic fruit flavors that bring the acidity and tannin structure of the vintage. It's intense, but with plenty of sophistication. A lengthy finish, caps it off. Best after 2025. R20-2

  • Long Shadows 2013 Pirouette

    Long Shadows 2013 Pirouette

    $59.99

    Columbia Valley Washington
    Jeb Dunnuck 93 Rating
While a step back from the blockbuster 2012, Philippe Melka’s 2013 Pirouette is no slouch and offers serious amounts of ripe black cherry fruits, graphite, hints of chocolate and plenty of sweet oak in a beautifully concentrated, ripe, textured package. Made from 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 12% Petit Verdot and 5% Cabernet Franc (mostly from Red Mountain) that spent 22 months in 75% new French oak, give bottle 3-5 years in the cellar and enjoy over the following decade or more.
