Aubert 2016 Pinot Noir UV Vineyard
$199.99Sonoma Coast California
Jeb Dunnuck 100 Rating
Leading off the Pinot Noirs, this is unquestionably the finest set of releases from the estate I’ve ever tasted, and it appears some of the magic Mark finds with his Chardonnays is finding its way over to the Pinot Noirs. The 2016 Pinot Noir UV Vineyard is 100% Calera clone (which reportedly comes from Vosne-Romanée) from a site in the Sonoma Coast and was brought up in 60-70% new French oak. It also saw around 10-20% whole clusters. Incredible ripe cherries, strawberries, exotic spices, blood orange, and floral notes all soar from this transparently colored, multi-dimensional, layered Pinot Noir that has no hard edges, ultra-fine tannin, and a finish that just won’t quit. It’s the finest Pinot Noir ever made from this address. SP7-4 -

Chateau Les Carmes Haut-Brion 2018 Red Pessac-Leognan
$199.99Bordeaux France
Jeb Dunnuck 100 Rating
The 2018 Château Les Carmes Haut-Brion is a rock star of a wine and is based on a unique blend of 37% Cabernet Franc, 34% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 29% Merlot that was brought up in 80% new French oak. Offering a deep ruby/purple color as well as a thrilling bouquet of blackcurrants, smoked tobacco, chocolate, violets, damp earth, and truffle, it hits the palate with a full-bodied yet almost understated, building style that carries ripe, supple tannins, gorgeous amounts of smoky black fruits, and an endearing, layered, multi-dimensional texture that keeps you coming back to the glass. A dead ringer for a great vintage of Haut-Brion, it is far from unapproachable today yet needs 7-8 years of bottle age for the fireworks to develop and will have 50-years or more of longevity! Hats off to Guillaume Pouthier for a magical, seamless, singular beauty! SP58-18 SP47-12 -

The 2016 Pinot Noir Gaps Crown comes from a great, great site on the Sonoma Coast and saw 15% whole clusters and 40% new wood. It’s a deep, rich, blacker fruit-driven effort that shows more and more savory, iron, and earthy notes with time in the glass. It’s ripe and opulent on the palate, with building tannin, yet packs a wealth of fruit and texture, while still showing the more elegant, balanced style of the vintage. SP9-3 -

Kosta Browne 2015 Gap’s Crown Pinot Noir
$99.99Sonoma Coast California
Jeb Dunnuck 97 Rating
From a site that was decimated with regards to yields, the 2015 Pinot Noir Gap's Crown Vineyard comes from a very diverse site that has varying soil types and elevations. At the top, it's primarily iron, volcanic soils, with some clay, but as you move down the vineyard you find more chert (seabed soils) and clay/loam. Kosta Browne owns a full 36 acres of the site, with lots of varying clones, and this is one of the larger production cuvee. The 2015 Pinot Noir Gap’s Crown Vineyard is smoking good and just loaded with notions darker fruits, caramelized blackberries, smoked earth, and pepper. Big, rich and textured on the palate, with a smoking good texture, this is one of the larger scaled, richer wines in the lineup. (in rack)
