Intense ruby red color with fruity hints of cherry and small red berries. Blackcherry, dried flowers, spice and licorice lift up from the bouquet. The fruit returns to the mouth, where the sip is sliding of excellent persistence.

Torres 2015 Salmos
$39.99 – $210.00Priorat Spain
Wine Advocate 91 Rating
Along with the 2014, I also tasted the 2015 Salmos, which is from an earlier and riper year. It's a similar blend of Cariñena, Garnacha and Syrah from the same vineyards and produced in a similar way, with fermentation in stainless steel and aged in French barriques for 14 months. The wine showed more finesse and freshness than the 2014, and there is more depth and complexity here too. There are some tannins that would welcome food and/or some more time in bottle. Very tasty. R28-4

A solid red with black cherry and mahogany. Some chocolate and hazelnut, too. Medium-to full-bodied with round tannins and a chewy finish. Yet, it’s polished and delicious. Drink or hold.

Illumination 2023 Sauvignon Blanc
$39.99 – $210.00Napa & Sonoma Counties California
The 2023 vintage of Illumination reveals aromatic purity and incredible depth. Classic notes of grapefruit peel, lemon curd, and white peach are layered with undertones of ginger tea, wild thyme, and clover blossom – the floral character a hallmark of the cool vintage. On the palate, flavors of kumquat and guava mesh with wet slate and elderflower. A lovely textural roundness is balanced by racy acidity and minerality. While vibrant in its youth, this wine’s structure also promised aging potential. A blend of 58% Sauvignon Blanc, 32% Sauvignon Blanc Musqué and 10% Sémillon.

Château Jalousie Beaulieu 2018 Bordeaux Supérieur

Wine Enthusiast 90 Rating
Pure Merlot has produced this powerfully rich wine. Tannins and dark black-plum flavors are still nudging each other for balance. As it develops this wine will be densely textured and rich with fruit and texture. Drink from 2021.

Fattoria Di Felsina 2017 Chianti Classico Rancia Riserva

The 2017 Chianti Classico Riserva Rancia is incredibly polished and sophisticated. Silky tannins give the 2017 its racy, sleek personality. Over the last year, the 2017 has really settled into a gorgeous place. There is plenty of vintage 2017 intensity, but Rancia is distinctly medium in body and restrained. The wilder side of Sangiovese, one of the signatures of Rancia and Fèlsina more broadly, tastes a bit baked out. I can’t wait to see how the 2017 develops over the coming years and decades.

Lifted aromas of Key lime, honeydew melon, and passion fruit all jump out of the glass supported by hints of freshly cut grass in the background. Those fresh lime and honeydew flavors continue to the palate, joined by kiwi and subtle herbaceous notes, all mingling together in a lively way. The wine is linear and focused, ending with enticing, mouthwatering acidity that will leave you wanting more.

Cantina Lavis 2022 Pinot Grigio Trentino
$13.99 – $132.00Italy
The Pinot Grigio has been grown in Trentino for decades. Now converted to organic production, the foothill and valley vineyards of Lavis and Gardolo, with their sandy loam soils of Avisio river deposits and alluvial sediments from the Adige, provide the perfect growing environment for Pinot Grigio. The wine possesses an intense golden yellow color, with a warm, inviting bouquet rich in scents of ripe fruits and honey. It has a distinctive rich minerality, with a long and fruity after-taste.
