Domaine du Pegau 2021 Chateauneuf du Pape
$89.99Southern Rhone Valley France
James Suckling 95 Rating
This has so much power and meaty depth for the 2021 vintage, also stacks of healthy tannins that give it great intensity at the very long and complete finish. It’s packed with licorice, tar and stony character that makes it hard to pull yourself away from its compelling hold. Drinkable now, but best from 2025. R44-1 -
Domaine Du Pere Caboche 2023 Chateauneuf du Pape
Price range: $34.99 through $336.00Southern Rhone Valley France
Decanter Magazine 93 Rating
Salty herbs help to bring an added freshness to this wine, along with the acidity and fresh tannins. It’s a savoury, food-friendly style of Chateauneuf, structured and serious, with a long finish. The tannins are a little fibrous for now, so give it time. This is the best vintage here for some time. Certified Haute Valeur Environnementale.

Domaine du Vieux Lazaret 2023 Chateauneuf-du-Pape Blanc
Price range: $49.99 through $480.00Southern Rhone Valley France
Light yellow gold. Attractive, multifaceted aroma, youthful and moderately full, showing a mélange of quince and fennel complemented by a toasted note. The palate reveals more, notably ripe yellow fruits, spice and herbal highlights. At first open, the wine falls off slightly, then continues to reveal a persistent aromatic conclusion. Well-integrated acidity surfaces at the end together with a mouth-coating texture. Easily the best wine for pairing with lobster but also delicious with other seafood, puff-pastries, white meats, or goat cheeses.

Domaine Faiveley 2020 Beaune Clos de l’Ecu Premier Cru
$99.99Cote de Beaune Cote d'Or Burgundy France
Wine Advocate 93 Rating
Aromas of raspberries, cherries, sweet spices, raw cocoa and peonies preface the 2020 Beaune 1er Cru Clos de l'Écu Monopole, a medium to full-bodied, concentrated and vibrant wine with tangy acids, melting tannins and a long, saline finish. This is very promising. SP3-6 -

A luscious, fruity style, offering black currant, black cherry, wet earth, vanilla and mineral notes. Dense, showing some grip on the extended finish. Overall, this is polished and harmonious. Drink now through 2033. SP6-9 -
Domaine Gachot 2019 Nuits-Saint-Georges Aux Herbues
Price range: $64.99 through $348.00Côte-de-Nuits Burgundy France
The pretty nose smells fabulously of Pinot Noir. The palate has good, juicy flesh to it, and the tannin/acid balance, well even in Burgundy you rarely find such an elegant balance. As red Burgundy or Pinot Noir, I think you will agree that this is an incredible value. R24-1 SP1-2

Domaine Gaget 2022 Cote du Py Morgon
Price range: $22.99 through $114.00Beaujolais Burgundy France
Wine Enthusiast 93 Rating
Raspberry and dried orange peel play table tennis on the nose with an audience of Darjeeling tea, moist earth and dried field grass. The midpalate echoes the nose while at once channeling a red-and-black fruit mix that dances between your cheeks and doesn’t let you reduce the wine to one or the other. The finish is long, complex and welcoming.

Ripe cherries, raspberries and hints of chocolate and mild spices on the nose. Vivid and juicy on the palate, it has a medium body with supple but crunchy tannins and bright acidity. A lot of life and energy that make the wine bright and delicious.

Domaine Giraud 2019 Chateauneuf du Pape Tradition
Price range: $59.99 through $600.00Southern Rhone Valley France
Vinous 93 Rating
Vivid ruby. Spice-accented black raspberry and cherry aromas are complemented by suggestions of garrigue and succulent flowers. Supple and seamless in texture, offering appealingly sweet and well-concentrated red berry, cherry liqueur and lavender pastille flavors sharpened by a spicy jolt of white pepper. Finishes on a repeating floral note, showing excellent clarity and polished tannins. Giraud’s entry-level bottling has been going from strength to strength in recent vintages.
