Rounded notes of ripe, dark cherry on the nose of this wine spell generosity and juiciness. The palate delivers but frames the fruit with freshness and a web of tannins that leave a pleasantly brushing sensation, expressing the well-managed richness and generosity. BX-12

Open and aromatic with honeysuckle flowers, dried apples and mangoes, as well as white peaches and stone. Full-bodied, this grows slowly on the palate with an intense, powerful finish. Lots of cream, cooked apples, lemons and light oak at the very end. Tight and right. Try after 2023. R22-2

A symphony of flavors, this rich expression exudes both power and finesse. Immediate freshness invites you into the glass, gracefully poised with ripe Meyer lemon, delicately embraced by light green herbs. The palate is accentuated with river stones and a touch of salt, intensifying notes of citrus pith and subtle almond under notes. Gorgeous.

Aromas of ripe apples and lemons with a lavender and honeysuckle undertone. It’s full-bodied with lovely firmness and form that gives the wine tension and focus. Hints of hay to the bright fruit in the aftertaste. R36-2

Hints of cool chalk and bright lemon show on this wine’s shy but fresh nose. A whisper of smoke accompanies the stony, wet-chalk notes. Chalkiness is even more pronounced on the palate, pervading texture and body, but also referencing lemon zestiness and riper tangerine. Gorgeously fresh now, this alluring wine is certain to evolve. There is a herbal tea top note to the brooding aromas of black raspberry, newly turned earth, violet and ripe plum. The super-sleek, even chiseled, medium-bodied flavors also possess a really lovely texture that carries over to the persistent and well-balanced finale that could again use better depth.

Dark and winey, featuring lots of currant, fig and blackberry compote notes stuffed together, with hints of ganache, tobacco and roasted alder filling in around them. A warm earth accent runs through the finish, which exhibits grip and drive. Rock-solid. Best from 2022 through 2037. 750 cases made, 200 cases imported. R45-4

  • Domaine Rapet Père et Fils 2017 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru

With the 2017 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru, Rapet has produced his finest white since 2014. The wine opens in the glass with a classy nose of ripe lemons, green apple, white flowers and crushed chalk, framed by subtle hints of oatmeal and beeswax. On the palate, it's full-bodied, deep and layered, with excellent concentration and broad shoulders, but also promising structural tension and reserve. The long, chalky finish is penetrating and intense. This is well worth seeking out. R22-3
