Champagne Canard-Duchêne 2015 Brut Millésime Champagne
Price range: $59.99 through $330.00France
This beautiful sparkler hails from Grand Cru and Premier Cru villages like Ambonnay, Chouilly, Verzy and Avena. It’s fresh, clean, soft, and dry with bright acidity and luscious mousse. The creamy palate provides flavors of apple, brioche, lemon, almond, dried apricot, pear, minerals, and white flowers. A winner on it’s own and a good companion for seafood especially caviar.

A luminous, deep yellow-green color with deep lemon yellow highlights. An elegant nose of butter, grilled hazelnut, cardamom, lime, verbena. When aerated, the wine reveals notes of apricot, blackcurrant, plum, biscuit, with accents of nougat, pineapple and toasted bread. Supple, fresh, fruity and sustained by bright acidity. 60% Chardonnay and 40% Pinot Noir – all Premier and Grand Cru vineyards.

Chapelle St. Theodoric 2020 Châteauneuf-du-Pape La Guigasse

Scents of roses, garrigue and blackberries mark the nose of the 2020 Chateauneuf du Pape La Guigasse, still aging in demi-muids at the time of my visit. It's one of those special wines that manages to be full-bodied and concentrated, yet also pillowy-soft, nearly ethereal in the mouth. A bit more tannic and stern on the finish than the 2020 Le Grand Pin, it finishes long, with a lingering note of licorice. 100% Grenache. R18-2 -

Remarkable depth of mature aromas – tons of candied lemon peel, dried pear and brioche – plus wonderful textural richness on the palate make this stand out amongst the regular Brut NVs. Then comes the intense and very long, mineral finish to crown this prince of the category. Based on 2016 base wines, but with 52% reserve wines, almost a third of which were 10 to 20 years of age. Drink or hold.

Château Arnauld 2019 Haut-Médoc

High toned blackcurrant fruit on the nose, dark with soft floral reflections. This is so lovely, juicy and alive with balanced acidity that is deliciously mouthwatering. Supple tannins give a soft padding to the chewy blackcurrant fruit and support the overall frame with edges of liquorice. Nicely finessed but also complex and persistent. Enjoyable with confident winemaking on show.

Chateau Barde-Haut 2020 Saint-Emilion Grand Cru
Price range: $49.99 through $270.00Bordeaux France
Jeb Dunnuck 96 Rating
I always love this wine, and the 2020 Chateau Barde-Haut is a quintessential Saint-Emilion revealing a deep ruby/purple hue, awesome notes of red plum, cherries, tobacco leaf, and chalky earth, full-bodied richness, bright acidity, and fine tannins. A gorgeous wine, it will benefit from 4-5 years of bottle age and keep for two decades. Best After 2027. SP58-12
