Symposium 2022 Bordeaux Supérieur
Price range: $15.99 through $84.00Bordeaux France
Enjoyabilityfactor 90 Rating
The soil of the vines is silicate and clay with pebbles in the subsoil. The vines are at least 25 years old. The grapes are selected at the sorting table with 100% destemming. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature between 28 and 30°C for 8 to 10 days, followed by an additional maceration of approximately 25 days, and malolactic fermentation. The wine is then aged for 6 months in oak barrels, 50% in new barriques and 50% in used barriques. The Symposium is deep dark. On the nose, it offers abundant fruit and a richness of fresh red berries such as cherries, some plums, and blackberries, with a light spiciness. The palate is flattering, maintaining the pronounced fruit at the forefront. But the Bordeaux freshness and the tannins are noticeable and very well integrated. A blend of 60% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Malbec.

Taittinger 2014 Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs
$249.99Champagne France
Vinous 97 Rating
The 2014 Comtes de Champagne is pristine. In this tasting, it comes across as a mini-2008, similar in its linear personality, with just a touch more mid-palate creaminess. Readers will find a Comtes that plays in the realm of tension and energy. Citrus confit, white flowers, chalk, mint and chamomile are all finely sketched. Light tropical overtones grace the finish. What an absolute delight. The 2014 can be enjoyed now or cellared. Dosage is 9 grams per liter. -

Trimbach 2018 Gewurztraminer
Price range: $29.99 through $156.00Alsace France
Wine Enthusiast 92 Rating
Both flinty reduction and rose notes play on the nose. The palate comes in with concentration and a pithy, phenolic texture that lends structure and backbone to this rich, rounded, almost oily but dry wine. Pleasant citrus-pith bitterness sits well with the bold, warm but dry generosity. It’s best to let this come into its own. Drink 2025–2035.

Trimbach 2022 Pinot Blanc
Price range: $19.99 through $102.00Alsace France
Natalie MacLean 91 Rating
Trimbach 2022 Pinot Blanc is a dry, full-bodied Alsatian white wine from Maison Trimbach, who have been growing grapes in Alsace since 1626. Love the vibrant and fresh nose of melon, fresh almond and white-fleshed stone fruit with a creamy and lingering white pepper spice finish on the palate. Very nicely done!

Veuve Clicquot 2015 Brut Vintage Champagne
Price range: $89.99 through $450.00Champagne France
Enjoyabilityfactor 93 Rating
Bright yellow. Aromas of orange, grapefruit, citrus fruit zest, dried apricot, dates, marmalade, toast, biscuit, praline. This wine stands out for its elegance, tension and energy. The first impression is of its tension, verticality and minerality, after which the wine unfolds its aromas of toast, roasted coffee beans and praline. The excellent structure makes this a fine, upstanding vintage.

Veuve Fourny & Fils Blanc de Blancs Extra-Brut Premier Cru NV
Price range: $59.99 through $600.00Champagne France
Without doubt, one of the best grower Champagnes on the market today. While this compares very favorably with the bigger houses, what you get is something worth so much more. Of all the grower Champanges we sell, this is without doubt the most popular and for one reason, it’s just so darn nice. Like most non-vintage Champagnes, this embodies the house style at Veuve Fourny impeccably well with elegant aromatics, a highly refined texture and a combination of orchard fruit and minerals that embraces Champagne’s more elegant side.

Antonio Galloni 91 Rating
The NV Brut Rosé is another enticing wine in this range. Rich and creamy, the Rosé delivers the goods. All the elements are so well balanced. Hints of cranberry, mint, white pepper and dried herbs build nicely in the glass, framed by bright saline accents that lend crystalline precision and cut throughout.
