Fattoria Le Pupille 2022 “Poggio Valente” Toscana Rosso
$29.99 – $150.00Tuscany Italy
Wine Advocate 95 Rating
Here is another knock-out bottle in this group of new releases from Fattoria le Pupille. The 2022 Poggio Valente is punchy and bright with terrific clarity of fruit. Winemaking has shifted over the years to prioritize larger oak botte. This change has allowed for more varietal expression with blue flower, heritage rose, tart cherry, rye bread and crushed stone. The wine’s flavor signature is wholly Mediterranean with hints of rosemary and lavender. The effect is especially luminous and lifted in 2022. This is an elegant wine with a unique voice.

Fattoria Le Pupille 2017 Saffredi Maremma Toscana
$119.99Tuscany Italy
Wine Advocate 97 Rating
Wow, there is a very impressive freshness here that defies the heat of this vintage. The 2017 Saffredi does not seem like a 2017 at all. Now celebrating its 30th birthday, Saffredi is 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 10% Petit Verdot. Thanks to the vineyard’s proximity to the sea, leaving leaves on the vines and the sharp diurnal shifts of the area, the fruit was able to ripen in a balanced manner despite the hot and dry summer. The team at Fattoria le Pupille knew they would have to be ready to harvest early and lose some their yields, and they did. In the end, production was down 25%, but the result is a fresh, thick and beautiful red made with ripe fruit and dark concentration. This is a great effort from Fattoria le Pupille. R45-3 -

Fattoria Le Pupille 2022 Saffredi Maremma Toscana
$109.99 – $570.00Tuscany Italy
Antonio Galloni 96 Rating
The 2022 Saffredi handled the rigors of the growing season quite well. Strong Cabernet Sauvignon make a strong first impression. Deep and potent, with tons of persistence, the 2022 has so much to offer. Gravel, incense, lavender, mocha and dried herbs are some of the many aromas and flavors that open with a bit of coaxing. The 2022 is a very young wine, one that requires at least a few years in bottle, but it is quite captivating just the same. This blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 10% Petit Verdot performed admirably. Drink: 2028-2042.

Fattoria Le Pupille 2023 Morellino di Scansano
$19.99 – $192.00Tuscany Italy
Wine Advocate 90 Rating
The Fattoria le Pupille 2023 Morellino di Scansano is made with Sangiovese that has been given greater lift thanks to small percentages of Alicante and Ciliegiolo in the blend. The bouquet offers wild cherry, lilac, violet and dusty mineral notes. There is also a touch of yellow sulfur stone that often features in wines from this area of the Tuscan Coast. This is a lean-bodied red with plenty of good tension and energy.

Ferrari Brut Sparkling Trentino
$29.99 – $156.00Alto Adige Italy
Vinous 91 Rating
Distinctly savory, the NV Brut Trentodoc opens with a blend of dusty dried flowers, cardamom and freshly sliced pears. It fills the palate with a silken bead of fine bubbles, taking on a salty-to-sweet sensation as tactile mineral tones mix with ripe orchard fruits. This finishes with admirable length and candied citrus twang, tapering off remarkably fresh. I love the balance and complexity here, especially for a Non-vintage Brut. Disgorged: 2023.

Feudi di San Gregorio 2021 Fiano di Avellino
$24.99 – $120.00Campania Italy
Wine Advocate 91 Rating
A terrific value, the Feudi di San Gregorio 2021 Fiano di Avellino is expressive and radiant with honeysuckle, white jasmine, freshly squeezed lemon, white peach and wet river stone. That mineral signature adds a lot to this lean-bodied white.

Feudi di San Gregorio 2022 Cutizzi Greco di Tufo
$19.99 – $114.00Campania Italy
James Suckling 91 Rating
This is fine greco. Salty, almond flecked, quinine bitter and savory, while segueing subtly into the stone fruit realm of appeal without any sense of excess. A quiver of mineral tension and shotgun acidity finds a nervous confluence with a stiff upper lip of pucker. Convincing. Drink or hold.

Feudi di San Gregorio 2022 Falanghina del Sannio
$15.99 – $78.00Campania Italy
James Suckling 91 Rating
Textbook. Falanghina 101. Bitter lemon, tonic, strewn fennel seed, pistachio and a pithy stone fruit pucker at the seams. Dutifully fresh, impeccably poised, far from profound, but dangerously easy to drink
