The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Poetry is a blend of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot. Deep garnet-purple colored, it sails out of the glass with energetic scents of fresh blackcurrants, black cherries and black raspberries, plus hints of candied violets, dark chocolate, clove oil and fragrant earth. This beauty offers a medium ruby color to go with a terrific perfume of sweet cherry and dark fruits that are supported by loads of leafy herbs, damp earth, and even hints of graphite. Shockingly deep, medium-bodied, and beautifully concentrated, with ripe tannins, it shines for its purity and nuance but offers serious intensity as well. It’s a fabulous wine to drink over the coming 10-15 years.

The Lucie Dutron Macon Villages is 100% Chardonnay from sustainably farmed vines located in Viré, Péronne, and Verzé. The vines are 20-45 years old and grow in limestone and clay soil. We were surprised by the wine’s richness and intensity. Pale gold with green flecks, the nose is joyfully expressive, white peach and citrus notes and white flowers jump from the glass. The palate is lush and has weight. Smooth, round, supple and complex with a surprisingly long finish. Flavors are fresh and lively mirroring the aromatics.
