Chateau Phelan Segur 2018 Saint-Estephe

The flagship 2018 Château Phélan Ségur is a beauty based on 57% Cabernet Sauvignon and 43% Merlot. This was a great vintage for the Médoc, and the 2018 reveals a dense purple hue to go with powerful notes of blackcurrants, iron, smoked tobacco, chocolate, and earth. Rich, full-bodied, and concentrated, it has beautiful tannin's, remarkable purity of fruit, and just does everything right. It has some up-front appeal today (no doubt due to the high Merlot content), yet it builds with time in the glass and shows more and more structure with air. It deserves 5-6 years of bottle age and will keep for 20-25. It's every bit as good as the 2016, if not better. SP53-12 BX-6 -

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve To Kalon shows beautiful elegance and poise, with classic cassis and currant fruits supported by complex dried herb, unsmoked tobacco, and flowery incense nuances. Coming from gravelly, well-drained soils, it’s full-bodied, has classic To Kalon opulence, ripe tannins, and a great finish. It’s an utterly classic Napa Valley beauty to enjoy over the coming 30-40 years. R16-3 -
Robert Foley Vineyards 2017 Merlot
$49.99 – $270.00Napa Valley California
Jeb Dunnuck 94 Rating
I loved the 2017 Merlot from Foley, a medium to full-bodied, rounded, undeniably delicious Merlot offering textbook dark cherry, chocolate, tobacco, and baking spice aromas and flavors. A mix of valley floor and hillside fruit, aged 20 months in 30% new barrels, it's going to drink well for 10-15 years. R42-2

Wine Enthusiast 93 Rating
The fifth vintage from this estate since its purchase by the Barton family of Léoville Barton in Saint-Julien, this is a generous, structured wine. It has ripe black fruits in profusion that are held together by the serious layer of tannins. Rich and concentrated, the wine will age for many years. Drink from 2024. (Editor's Choice) SP56-9 -
Ginestet Mascaron 2015 Par Ginestet Bordeaux Rouge

This wine has a beautiful garnet color. The nose is characterized by notes of black fruits with spices, a sign of maturity. The woody aromas bring a beautiful structure to the wine which has a great length in the mouth as well as silky and delicate tannins. From the selection of our best wines, this red Bordeaux reflects the expertise of the House Ginestet. SP58-6 -
Chateau Leoville Barton 2018 Saint-Julien
$149.99Bordeaux France
Jeb Dunnuck 97 Rating
This estate has been on fire in recent vintages, and the 2018 Château Léoville Barton is up there with the best of them. Based on 82% Cabernet Sauvignon and 18% Merlot that was brought up in 60% new French oak, this classic, flawlessly balanced, straight-up awesome Saint-Julien has loads of cassis and mulberry fruits as well as notes of freshly sharpened pencils, leafy tobacco, chocolate, and earth. Rich, medium to full-bodied, and concentrated on the palate, it has building tannins and healthy acidity, yet the fruit is pure, perfectly ripe, and wonderfully integrated with all the wine's components. As is normal with this cuvée, it closes down with extended air and is going to take a solid 8-10 years of bottle age to reach the early stages of maturity. It's going to evolve for 30-40 years in cold cellars. R38-2 SP58-6 -
Sea Smoke 2022 Pinot Noir Ten
$119.99Santa Rita Hills California
The 2022 ‘Ten’ Pinot Noir is a stunning effort that is already beautifully evolved from this slightly warmer vintage. Winemaker Don Schroeder. makes this wine from its 10 “clones” of Pinot Noir. The palate is deep, fresh and fragrant with serious weight, texture and tension. Red rose petal water combines with bright cranberry and red cherry fruits alongside salty soils on the palate. Full-bodied and absolutely delicious, enjoy now and over the next ten plus years -
Chateau Gruaud Larose 2018 Saint-Julien
$129.99Bordeaux France
Jeb Dunnuck 97 Rating
Based on 67% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc, the 2018 Château Gruaud Larose sports a dense purple hue as well as a stunning nose of pure crème de cassis, cedar pencil shavings, blackcurrants, smoked tobacco, and a liquid rock-like sense of minerality. This dense, almost broodingly backward, concentrated Saint-Julien has flawless balance, a remarkable sense of purity, masses of tannins, and one hell of a great finish. Seemingly almost from a more austere year (say 2000 or 2010), it's not going to hit maturity for at least a decade and should cruise in cold cellars for 20-30 years. It's a brilliant wine! Chateau d’Yquem 2010 Sauternes

Pale to medium lemon-gold colored, the 2010 d'Yquem is just now starting to strut its stuff with gregarious scents emerging of underripe mangos, fresh pineapples, poached pears and candied peel plus nuances of waxed lemons, fungi, musk perfume and wet clay. Wonderfully poised, the seductively intense fruit is offset by beautiful freshness, supporting layer upon layer of savory nut and baked-bread notions with the tantalizing exotic fruits coming through on the long, long finish. For number crunchers: 13.5% alcohol, 138 grams per liter residual sugar, and total acidity is 3.6 grams per liter H2SO4. Tempting to drink now, I’m sensing there are still a lot of latent nuances to be revealed here. So—to get that full Yquem experience—I’d give it another five years in bottle, at least, and drink it over the next 40+ years. SP60-4
